Simple question, I'm just wondering if you would be more worried if a large enough (lets say 0.5%) amount of people had developed telekinetic abilities.

A person with a gun is pretty much just as dangerous to my person as someone with telekinetic powers would be.
So, no, the existence of telekinetic powers wouldn't particularly scare me, as I would trust that most people with the power would be able to control themselves, just as most people are able to control themselves if they have a gun.

You're thinking of a variant of telepathy. Telekinesis refers to the ability to remotely manipulate kinetic energy, usually in order to move objects around, and has nothing (at least by default) to do with mind reading.JoJo said:

The worst part about telekinesis is that you could assassinate people and be copletely untracable. All you have to do is pinch off one artery, or the heart, or the brain, or the windpipe, and someone would die of seemingly natural causes. You wouldn't even need to be very powerful with it, really.
Throwing cars is too showy, the real uses for that kind of power would be far more subtle.
Of course, on the other hand, it could also be used to greatly benefit mankind. Living spacecraft propulsion!

OP: I don't deny I'd be slightly apprehensive if I wasn't one of the people with telekinetic powers (If I was I'd be too busy being awesome to be apprehensive). However, I like to think I'd also maintain my ability to judge people based on what they choose to do with their power, rather than what they have the potential to do.

Very worrying. Imagine what a bullied child with such powers would do to his tormenters or vice-versa. Further, unless you can hit them with a tranq before they see you; there's not much an adult can do to over power them (unless the adult is a TK himself).
Much scarier with a man with a gun in my opinion; a gun can be taken away, a gun can run out of ammunition, a gun requires aim, and guns tend to be loud and obvious. A TK can make someone trip down the stairs, make a car swerve, or cause a heart attack without anyone being the wiser. Hell, imagine what you could get away with even if you weren't a TK..."Gee officer, I don't know...I didn't have control of my body; must've been one of them telks made me kill her." It'd be impossible to prove.
