What does it matter if it's Valve made? It could be Clorox made for all I care.
So long as it had a good library of games, I'd get it.

oh sure there are very few PC exclusives thease days but as long as they work properly I dont mind playing console ports, hell just because Im a PC gamer does not mean I exclusivley play Blizzard or Valve titles (in fact I dont play ANY blizard games)Souplex said:Because they're what's known as a "Loud minority".Vault101 said:are you daying that PC gamers would like the console? just because its made by valve? depending on th features...its still a console and well....PC gamers prefer playing on a PCSouplex said:Valve releasing a console would be preferable to PC gamers dragging PC gaming's corpse around, but I still find them reprehensible as a company.
They're a step above Apple in the grand scheme of things.
If they did, it would probably be the first console to support a mouse/Keyboard, and mods. So there's that.
also if PC gaming was dead then why do people still buy and play PC games?
It's when a very small group is so vocal that they make people think they're a large group.
For example: The birther movement is a crazy fringe movement. But if you watched the news they seem like a big group.
PC game sales make up 7% of the market, and Blizzard is the only remaining PC exclusive AAA developer. When Activision inevitably makes them release Diablo for the consoles PC gaming will be completely dead.
Which by that definition makes my pc a console, as it is very much so dedicated to playing video games...flaming_ninja said:1. My computer is connected to a Sony Bravia 40" Television right now.Futurenerd said:You're kidding right? 2. The term "console" is defined in multiple ways but not the way you just described.
Noun
"console" (plural consoles)
1. A cabinet designed to stand on the floor.
2. A cabinet that controls, instruments, and displays are mounted upon.
3. The keyboard and screen of a computer.
4. A storage tray or container mounted between the seats of an automobile.
5. (video games) A device dedicated to playing video games, set apart from arcade cabinets by its ability to change games.
6. (architecture) An ornamental member jutting out of a wall to carry a superincumbent weight.
A t.v. is just a screen. And what is a moniter if not a giant screen?Futurenerd said:You're kidding right? You do know that "console" refers to those things you hook up to your tv?mireko said:It's called a PC.
If you find the right places, (Japan mostly) people make it seem like the arcade market is thriving.Vault101 said:oh sure there are very few PC exclusives thease days but as long as they work properly I dont mind playing console ports, hell just because Im a PC gamer does not mean I exclusivley play Blizzard or Valve titles (in fact I dont play ANY blizard games)Souplex said:Because they're what's known as a "Loud minority".Vault101 said:are you daying that PC gamers would like the console? just because its made by valve? depending on th features...its still a console and well....PC gamers prefer playing on a PCSouplex said:Valve releasing a console would be preferable to PC gamers dragging PC gaming's corpse around, but I still find them reprehensible as a company.

plus theres...you know steam and indie titles,
like I said I can still buy and play games on the PC to me that sounds like PC gaming
"completley dead" is when its about the same level as playing games in an arcade...which I dont see happening anytime soon
I definitely disagree about PC gaming dying out, some of my favorite games are years from even being possible to run on a console, mostly because they pretty much require a mouse. I suppose maybe a Wii-mote type controller could work, but try playing RTS games like Total War and imagine them on a console, or Starcraft, which did have an N64 console version that was... different I think is the best way to describe it.Souplex said:Valve releasing a console would be preferable to PC gamers dragging PC gaming's corpse around, but I still find them reprehensible as a company.

The thing is, objectively looking from the outside, it really isn't. Those people are just deluding themselves, and the arcade people who realized the arcades died in the late 90's and moved on to consoles were much happier.
There are certain aspects of arcade gaming that can't be replicated by home consoles. Having a custom controller for every game is entirely impractical for a console, and the community aspect simply can't be replicated. People who still go to arcades aren't people who are deluding themselves, they're people who know what they like and aren't going to lie and say the alternative is just as good.Souplex said:If you find the right places, (Japan mostly) people make it seem like the arcade market is thriving.Vault101 said:oh sure there are very few PC exclusives thease days but as long as they work properly I dont mind playing console ports, hell just because Im a PC gamer does not mean I exclusivley play Blizzard or Valve titles (in fact I dont play ANY blizard games)Souplex said:Because they're what's known as a "Loud minority".Vault101 said:are you daying that PC gamers would like the console? just because its made by valve? depending on th features...its still a console and well....PC gamers prefer playing on a PCSouplex said:Valve releasing a console would be preferable to PC gamers dragging PC gaming's corpse around, but I still find them reprehensible as a company.
