No. Not probably no, definitely no. They're a software company not a hardware company, I wouldn't even consider swapping a Sony product for a Valve product unless I'd heard a lot of recommendations and objective reviews.

Microsoft needlessly charge extra for everything. Sony can't keep a secure network. Nintendo are the new Fisher Price.
You know to be fair Microsoft aren't being that greedy, it's annoying they actually stop people putting things on their store for free but it's business, you have to make your money somehow and Valve would too. If any of the hackers who targetted Sony had targetted Microsoft or Nintendo instead do you really think the results would have been any different? Cause they wouldn't have been, they'd have got through either of the other two's security if they were the targets. And Nintendo games are fun, simple as that.

Maybe (explain)

While I have the upmost faith in Valve as a company creating/producing computer games this is not a strong enough argument to buy a console made by them (Nintendo as a compny are very good at creating/producing computer games I don't feel I would use a Wii enough to buy one). It would depend on the spec it being out a year or two and its success its third party as well as first party games and what the competittion was like at the time.

In bazaro world were this even might actually have a possibility of taking place. Depends, I?d have to see how it turns out and what third parties actually want to develop games for it.

What's the UI interface like in general? [...]
You do know that "UI" means "User Interface", and thus you just said "User Interface interface"?
Yes. Yes I do. I simply repeated it for emphasis. Kind of like Josh on that Nick show, Drake and Josh. He also repeats words for emphasis. Emphasis!

I would definatly be interested. If they offered cheap console games through something similar to steam, and had some unique titles I would be tempted, but if they just had steam on a new console, not so much.

As much as I love Valve, no, I wouldn't buy their console. I love steam, but even if this console used steam, I still prefer the mouse and keyboard controls.

If the console was basicly a cut down PC that let me buy my games all online and use a mouse and keyboard...

Which is only one step removed from a 360 anyway...

Valve releasing a console would be preferable to PC gamers dragging PC gaming's corpse around, but I still find them reprehensible as a company.
They're a step above Apple in the grand scheme of things.
If they did, it would probably be the first console to support a mouse/Keyboard, and mods. So there's that.
are you daying that PC gamers would like the console? just because its made by valve? depending on th features...its still a console and well....PC gamers prefer playing on a PC

also if PC gaming was dead then why do people still buy and play PC games?
Because they're what's known as a "Loud minority".
It's when a very small group is so vocal that they make people think they're a large group.
For example: The birther movement is a crazy fringe movement. But if you watched the news they seem like a big group.
PC game sales make up 7% of the market, and Blizzard is the only remaining PC exclusive AAA developer. When Activision inevitably makes them release Diablo for the consoles PC gaming will be completely dead.
oh sure there are very few PC exclusives thease days but as long as they work properly I dont mind playing console ports, hell just because Im a PC gamer does not mean I exclusivley play Blizzard or Valve titles (in fact I dont play ANY blizard games)

plus theres...you know steam and indie titles,

like I said I can still buy and play games on the PC to me that sounds like PC gaming

"completley dead" is when its about the same level as playing games in an arcade...which I dont see happening anytime soon
If you find the right places, (Japan mostly) people make it seem like the arcade market is thriving.
The thing is, objectively looking from the outside, it really isn't. Those people are just deluding themselves, and the arcade people who realized the arcades died in the late 90's and moved on to consoles were much happier.
There are certain aspects of arcade gaming that can't be replicated by home consoles. Having a custom controller for every game is entirely impractical for a console, and the community aspect simply can't be replicated. People who still go to arcades aren't people who are deluding themselves, they're people who know what they like and aren't going to lie and say the alternative is just as good.

PC gamers are pretty much in the same category. There are many aspects of PC gaming that aren't available on consoles and many people aren't going to pretend that consoles can do the same thing.
Still; the bad outweighs the good.

From a business standpoint I can't imagine them ever doing it, and there isn't really much room for it. The three we have now pretty much fill in all the niches. And now that the Move and Kinect are out, useless developers who make low budget kids games based on shows no one's seen don't even need the Wii anymore.

For the people that don't participate the bad outweighs the good, for the people that do participate the good outweighs the bad. That's why these things don't die, they just change.

Maybe, because the idea sounds good on paper and may be worth it because I don't bother with Steam. More to the point, new blood is always good for business. However, it has to be understood that my money is also hitting the entire Sony angle with a smattering of computer-related gaming, so you have to ask "What will it cost me?".

Why would they bother it would be a shit stupid buisness move, they are already pushing steam onto the PS3 and 360 and bet good money they will make a push at nintendos project Cafe if it has the facilities.

No one makes money on next gen console sales and valve already has the profitable bit (distribution) without the need of a platform.

Same here. Steam is (in my opinion) the greatest thing ever created for distributing PC games, but Valve's games earn a solid "meh" from me. I doubt they could get the backing required to launch a console...
