It's not cheating. Hide and seek is a skill game. Being clever and witty is a part of the deal.
So would you consider it cheating if they threatened to kill everyone else if they beat them? Maybe not as clever or witty, but still would require skill (strength, maliciousness, presence, etc.)
Depends on how you set it up. Obviously, you wouldn't go threatning to kill people during a game of hide and seek. But if one would be in a position in which he could do that, without risking his own life (or risking it, but knowing he won't lose), that's a skill on it's own.

Would riding the back of c'thulu be cheating? No, because getting c'thulu to ride you around is halfway towards victory.

It's cheating if you are using more than one person, or robot to look for them, because the fun is you being alone and finding hidden things. The game loses playability if the odds are stacked in your favor.

Wouldn't you want to use the robots to take over the world instead?
Taking over the world doesn't guarantee a date with me though. Though to be honest it wouldn't hurt.

I'm not sure riding C'Thulu would give any sort of real advantage though. Sure you would have more eyes for looking with, but you would also be much further from the hidey holes to peer into them. I would think just having a tracking dog would be much better. But then would you consider using the canine to do the tracking for you as cheating?

Can the robots protect you from the beating the other kids will deliver to you for cheating?

cheating yes. also incredibly lazy
I've noticed laziness mentioned more than once. Couldn't it be argued the seeker spent a lot of time learning the skills to create such robots? That definitely would not be lazy of them. So does laziness in game dictate laziness of character? Or should their past achievements give them special bonuses over the other players during the game?

well you never said you created them. judging by your willingness to cheat i would guess you stole them. 8P

And you're not killing things with these robots because...?
The Three Laws of Robotics.
Good answer.

I'd say it's cheating, though. Using anything other than your own body and sense to locate someone in a game of hide-and-seek would definitely kill the spirit of the game.

No. Not cheating.

I'm a little surprised to see that this answer is the minority.

Of course it gives you an advantage. It does so because it's awesome. And so isn't a canine. It'd only give the players a new level of awesome. Imagine hide and seek with a dog against Bear Grylls. He'd know what to do.
