Very simple question, let's say hypothetically, your home country, town, whatever, is invaded and you're given the chance to stand against this hypothetical foe.

Would you be willing to die to defend where you come from?

Hell no. Partially because I don't care about my country, and partially because 'defending' would involve killing people, something I refuse to do under almost any circumstances.

It would be the only reason I would join the army. I'd fight more for the country more than the people in it though I would fight for my fellow country-people's freedom from opression and rule of a foreign enemy. As for a civil war, I dunno. The government I wouldn't fight for anyway.

If I die for my country I won't be able to reap the benefits of it surviving so no.

No, because that wouldn't help anyone. As Patton said, it isn't dying for your country that matters, it's making the other poor son of a ***** die for his.

Would I be willing to pick up arms to fight that other poor son of a *****? Yes.

It depends under the circumstances of the invasion. If it is to defend against an unquestionable evil than yes. If it is to save countless lives than yes. But if were attacked because of our own ignorance than I don't know how I could justify giving my life for a cause like that.

For my country? No. It's just a plot of land.

For the people in that land? Hell yes.
This. A country isn't anything worth giving loyalty to. Fight for people? Yes.

Well, I answered "no" but the real answer is actually "probably not." Really, I guess it depends on what kind of take over we're talking about here, but assuming the big difference is that my country is now under new leadership though my day to day life won't change way too much, then hell no. As an American citizen I have personally invited other countries to please invade us on multiple occassions. Particularly, if anyone in Canada is reading this, feel free to annex us. Our environmental irresponsiblity damages the world for everyone, including you, so you've even got some justification for telling us to sit back, shut the fuck up, and let someone try to undo the damage we've done. Also, I am totally down for the whole universal healthcare thing. If you'd like to restructure our healthcare systems, please, feel free to!

So, again, I invite anyone who would like to make us get our acts together, with force, to please do it!

Yes I would, if my country was attacked I would fight to preserve the ideology of it. Hell if we were invaded I would probably be so pissed you couldn't stop me from going to the frontline.

If I didn't have to kill or fight to save everyone else from fighting and dieing then i would but I think your question implies that I would have to fight.

In short I would only do it if it was the best Pacifist option.

Probably not, and why should I? I just live here, I wasn't even born in this country and even if I was it wouldn't matter. It's just a chunk of land.

If someone was invading the homeland, probably. If I had to get deployed to fight somewhere else, not a chance; I don't want to be fighting on someone else's turf. You fight your war, not theirs.
