Would I die for imaginary lines drawn on the map to keep them the same? No.
Would I die for interchangeable, bobble-head politicians who are deluded enough to think they're helping people all while taking obscene amounts of money for screwing over the people they're supposed to represent? *ahem* No.

Now ask me:
Would I die for my family? Yes.
Would I die for my friends? Yes.
Both, a thousand times yes.

That has to be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read. Yes, I love my country. No, I wouldn't die for it.

this isnt a yes or no answer. at the moment there is no way in f$@^ing hell i would die for my country. its the reason im not joining the military. if we were in a war where they were entering our soil, or it was something like world war 2, i wouldnt have a problem going to war with the possiblity of "dieing for my country" but i would avoid it as much as possible.

aside from the military the only other possiblity i can think is the retarded someone puts a gun to your head and says "say you hate your country or die" imma say "america sucks ass!" the honor of my country is not worth dieing for.

I would do for a good cause, not just because the slab of land I was dying for happened to be the one I lived on.

Would you die for your country? It's pretty straight-forward.

For me yes. If your not willing to die for it, then why live there? You obviously don't love it there very much.
Nope, I don't love America, especially since I live in Jesusland. So I have to be willing to die for this hell hole the be able to live here, when they have done nothing for me? Then where am I supposed to live since I can't think of a place that I would die for.

My country in what sense? The government? I'd enjoy watching my incompetent representatives suffer a bit. The land itself? No. Abstracts like culture or nationalism? No. The people within? Probably. The people that matter to me live in Aus, and being willing to die for them means that, by extension, I would be willing to die for my country.

To take that even further though, for what purpose? Is it my death or te deaths of twenty on million people? Would my death preserve our culture and our nation? There are too many variables to be able to give a solid answer.

How do you define country?

Riddle me that, and I'll let you know how I feel.

I might have to. I plan on joining the Air Force very soon and while I know that they're normally not the ones in the front lines or anything, there's still a danger element to it.

And ah, it's refreshing to see this influx of disrespect for soldiers. It's like watching a Westboro Baptist Church protest.

No, in my opinion patriotism is a disease that makes people turn a blind eye to how governments really operate.
Would I die for another person however? That depends on the situation. But Yes I'd like to think so. Not to say I wouldn't defend my country's borders and people if I had to.

In my opinion country's have never been run as anything but a business. Would I die for that? Hell no, I can live anywhere, what matters to me are the people I care about. after that its just about survival to be honest.

I really don't approve of all this soldier bashing here too. That is COMPLETELY out of line. I don't see soldiers as some flag waving fools. Every soldier has their own reason for fighting and even if it IS down to patriotism that is THEIR business and whatever the reason I will always be thankful for what they do as a whole. Yes there are times where the army gets it wrong and that is unacceptable especially when it causes senseless loss of life. but to each individual soldier I am grateful that they take up the cause. Proud even.

I guess you would be number one in line to be a suicide bomber. Does any reason do for you?

Me? My life is worth more than my country. I am also free to live when and where i like for my own reasons as i see fit. I guess you would fit in in Afghanistan where no body has any rights and are happy to strap a bomb and blow themselves up for no good reason.

I'll never go to war...its not about dying for the people of the country...its about why would you want to go to war because of a bunch of fat politicians sitting behind a desk are the ones who make war in the first place? let the politicians go to war....don't get the people involved.

I love the military, i really do, and their is a great deal of danger in what you do. But, yes you may die, but you go to war to fight, survive and come back. You dont go their to die. Only suicide bombers intentionally die for their country. Soldiers dont, they die because they are in a dangerous situation and just unlucky.

I guess people forgot that solidier go to war as its their job.....its the governments that put them there in the first place with their politics.

I would only die for my country if it were in a war. If the USA was being Invaded, then I would definitely die for my country. But otherwise, no

It makes no sense for a civilian to die for their country. The act accomplishes nothing.

Completely different if you were a soldier. At least you died with a sense of purpose, perceived or not.

I have no desire to ever become a soldier, so my answer is no.
All of this, and my country is kinda crap with a lot of things and I do not support the fat cats of the current government.
There is also the fact that I am dead afraid (haha) of being dead. So... no. If this country went to war for some stupid reason and started conscripting or was at risk of invasion, I would get the hell out of here.

Maybe the "die for" is misleading. I would protect my family and friends but i would hope to fight and survive it. "Die for" just sounds like you shoot yourself in the face because some one tells you to or threatens to punch your mother if you dont.

But i agree 100% with what you wrote still. Dying so your governments can get out of paying foreign countries the going rate for oil is a waste of soldiers lives.

No, you see, the point of war is not to die for your country, but rather to make the other poor chap die for his.

I don't give a shit about any nation.
