What is this forums obsession with the consumption of human flesh?

One of these threads pop up every few weeks.

OT: Not unless it was a matter of life and death.

No. I dunno, but I've heard stories of people becoming ill (and in some cases going bat-shit crazy) after the consumption of human flesh.

im actually kind of intrigued as to what it tastes like...

not to say id actively pursue this curiosity, but should the opportunity present itself...

well, human curiosity is a powerful motivator, is all im saying.
Apparently, it tastes like chicken.

I wouldn't mind trying it, although I'd prefer that I didn't know the person very well/ at all.

"Only in an extreme survival situation."
Also, I'd probably over-cook it, but on purpose. Not so that it's not edible anymore, but so there's less chance of getting sick from eating something my body's not used to. And as some vain attempt to make it easier to tell myself I'm not currently eating another person. :S

Other than "in an extreme survival situation", though? Never. Eurgh...

iirc there was a tribe in africa who practiced cannibalism, they then had a mysterious disease where suddenly they would burst into non-stop laughter until they died.

If inna extreme survival situation, yeah... But I would never kill anyone to get it, they would have to be self-dead.

I'm now 40 minutes into watching Sin City so the thought of eating anything is a little unbearable.

I would in but only life or death scenario. That isn't because I am opposed to eating human meat. I just know we taste horrible.

Actually, human flesh is really bitter and stringy. We are closer to pork than chicken.

I'm part of the 'if it's me, or there, I'm living' crowd.

Humans are just animals and if push comes to shove catchup can make ANYTHING taste good.

Except broccoli. It even says so on the bottle.

If the person is already dead or near death, and the only other option is to die, then yes.

Otherwise, it just seems... wrong. I can't explain the taboo on it, but mainly because there are people who'd kill other people for the express purpose of cookin' 'em up, and it seems the best way to prevent this atrocity to is outlaw and demoralize eating people as regular square meals.

If the donor was cool with it and it was well cooked, then sure. I mean, it's meat, right?
I don't think they'd give a shit, with being dead and all.

This is correct. The makeup of human skin and flesh is very similar to that of pigs.

Back in the days of Ye Olde Piracy, human flesh was often referred to as Long Pork, due to its flavor and smell while being cooked.

Given the right sauces/spices, I doubt a person would ever suspect that they were eating human.

On another note, however, DO NOT consume the nervous tissue(i.e. brain). Rather nasty diseases and maladies come with consuming human nervous tissue.

Yes. It's meat, and I will eat that meat if it is served on my plate.
