No. Prices might go down if they stopped production of boxes, discs, and game manuals, but I LIKE the boxes, discs, and game manuals. I don't buy games I could buy in a store online for precisely that reason.

It's not something I'd push for personally as I'd rather have choice, but if it did happen I'd be ok with it. The only retail game I've bought recently was Skyrim since it came with a cool map. I get all my games of Steam et al nowadays.

Never. I like having a physical copy for personal reasons. I like having a case which I can open, a disc I can keep and a manual to read. It's a good feeling to have games on my shelf I can look at.

These days, I mostly game on my laptop. (The games I like usually don't require very powerful hardware, for some reason.) And other than New Vegas, which I bought retail a month or so after launch, all my PC games are from Steam, so I may as well have already converted to digital-only already.

It would be acceptable, although the gaming idustry would have to implement a few changes first. One, cheaper HDDs for consoles. Really, I have a 250gb on my 360, how long would that last with every one of my 25ish games installed on it? Computer HDDs are cheap and easily aquired, console ones aren't. Yes, I know the PS3 one can use a laptop one, I'm talking about every previous console here.
Two, better internet connection. Not everyone has a 10mbps+ connection that never falls. Mine hovers around 2.5mbps, can go as low as 60kbps.

"I don't have internet." "Well that means you are not allowed to ever play games."

Yeah I'd do it. No matter what PC game I want to play, whether I have the disk or not, I need to do an install so that doesn't really change anything. The only difference is if I have to download it as well, but maybe if I bought a big backup drive I could just store all my installers on that.

What do you mean 'Would I?'

I already do, Steam/Origin and, on the rare occasion I do buy a game in reality, I get annoyed because it keeps asking for the fecking disc.

Although the trend of ever-increasing game costs (39.99 on a game from steam) doesn't make me happy, the fact that Steam and even Origin has sales (And that most of the games I do want to play are single player, meaning I can wait without missing out with my other buddies) means its not that big of a deal.

We're discussing an eventuality. Shortly "I don't have internet" will be right up there with "I don't have a computer" in terms of arguments you can legitimately respond with "Well sort that out and then you can play games."

As is I wonder how many gamers don't have access to the internet at all. Although I admit the speed of some people's internet would be a problem.
Not everyone will have a computer, or even internet. So I don't think we will have that. I don't even have a cellphone and I doubt that I am alone.
