Poll: Would you ever want a tattoo?

Yeah, I'm gonna get a tattoo one day, right below my neck. I don't know what yet though, probably something I've drawn myself - or someone else drew for me. We'll see.

No, a tattoo is a permanent reminder of a temporary feeling.

So is marriage.

So are kids.

So is pretty much everything, reminders of our past experiences and emotions are a positive thing in my opinion.

However a random ass tattoo would be a horrible idea.

I have a specific tattoo i've wanted for over 5 years now. I will likely spend quite a bit to get it done perfect.

I'd like a tattoo, but the problem is I have no idea what to get, I'd prefer something that I'm not going to regret in several years, which makes it more difficult. I'm not exactly great with commitment.

I've actually wanted the tattoo on Faiths arm from Mirror's Edge for a while, but there's just a little voice in the back of my head saying "Don't do it you fool!", so as of yet, I haven't got any.

As for the question of ever wanting any, i'm not opposed to the idea, but I first need the money and a tattoo that i'd like.

Definitely not. As a person, a tattoo just wouldn't be 'me', if that makes sense, and it'd probably look weird with some of the stuff I'd wear. Not to mention that I won't be happy about how it looks in a few more decades' time, and I hate needles. Blegh.

I had one removed so no... never again. Though I think they have developed an ink that can be removed at a later date for a reasonable price if you change your mind. So the permanence issue may no longer be something to worry about (before only normal sized black ink tattoos could be removed after many months of expensive laser treatment).

I picked "Maybe" on the poll, because I'm sure I'd want a tattoo some day in my life, but I also know that I'd never get one because I understand that what I like one day may change drastically the next.

I can't remember where I heard this, but I've always stuck with it:
Think back to 10 years ago. What did you like back then? Was it Pokemon, or maybe a specific girlfriend. If you got a tattoo of a Pokeball or of Pikachu or maybe of your girlfriend's name, would you look at it today and still say "Yep, I'm happy I got this". No matter what we think of today, what we actually do like today is likely to change in the future. Besides, do you really want a wrinkled picture of a yellow rat on your arm when you're 80 years old?

It's your body and all that jazz but how about an original tattoo? All you need to finish off the most common tattoos is your name up your arm.

Granted I have a full tribal sleeve but from now on it's all unique stuff.
