Certainly would depend on whether my country was in the right. It probably would be if it wasn't the aggressor, but I wouldn't just blindly sign up for some nationalist agenda no matter what the cause and context of the war was.

Depends on if I thought the people attacking were a genuine threat.
I'm talking dictatorship, world domination type attacks. If it's just two countries having a scuffle, I don't see why I should stick around and be a part of that selfish dickwaving contest. I'm not willing to fight because some old, bitter idiot decided to send his country's youth to die for him.

So yeah, if we've got World War III on our hands, totally, sign me up. Anything lesser, no. Don't care.

Which happens to be my stance. If the US invaded the very next day, I could give more brain tumours than I could a damn about them being here. Nationalism is stupid, end of story.

If they invaded for the sole purpose of genocide or to spread their wonderful hate of everything that civilization stands for, then I'd obviously have second thoughts.

On another note, the expected lifespan in a battle situation for a soldier with the specialization I have, is about 40 seconds, if we get spotted.

I'm Canadian. And while being attacked is pretty low on my list of things to worry about, if it ever happened I'd fight to the death, or at least do whatever a person with epidermolysis bullosa simplex could do to help.

actually, at present i'm pretty sure that, of those two, only China has the military power to do so. but, as you pointed out, neither have much, if anything, to gain. my answer was totally hypothetical, of course. i don't foresee anyone invading in my lifetime. but, then again, you never know what might change.

China doesn't. As mentioned last time this came up, China has no deep water navy, and so cannot invade any country it doesn't have a land border with...maybe Taiwan, because that's just offshore, but to cross an ocean...nah.

Hell yes. I may not be a big fan of my country's government (despite voting Lib Dem, a decision I don't actually regret given my awesome local MP), and there are some things that really need to change. But I would never want to see my country taken over by another, and I would fight to the death if necessary to defend it. I was actually going to join the RAF, in fact - the only reason I chose not to is because I wanted to go to university first and they said I'd have to join straight from school to do the stuff I wanted to do (specifically, entering Officer training on entry) - that put me off the idea of joining the military, though it's always still an option should my other career paths not pan out how I want to.

Also, on a side note, is anyone else psyched for the film Tomorrow, When The War Began coming out soon? Because I am .
