This looks far better, and I like it. A minor quibble - the ears are wrong. They are one of the few features of the Quarian that are described and they're slightly different. No biggie though.

Is that a Draenei? Perhaps Argus, and by extention Draenor and Azeroth, is out there somewhere...

Yes, yes I would. At least some thought and work went into it, instead of a slightly photoshopped stock photo...

No, looks too glamorous, too Asari, and just doesn't fit.

In the Mass Effect Universe concept art book, there's one face concept for Tali that works really well. Large, glowing pupil-less eyes, slightly alien face, no hair, and a rounded skull. Would've suited her fine.

Apart from it being a lazy stock photo 'shop, I didn't mind the face in ME3.

Yes, I don't know why but to me it that image kind of capture of what make Tali, Tali.

She looks like this, thanks to Bioware:

I don't get why everyone thinks she should have glowing eyes. I figured it was just a product of her suit. She must need some sort of sight enchancement from behind the murky mask so I always assumed it was some kind of light reflection and not just a natural glow. But hey, each to their own.

To me, that's the real sticking point about that picture, it looks far too similar to humans, with even the Asari (without question the most humanlike race before this reveal) look far more alien than Tali's picture did, which makes it all the more surprising that nobody in-game mentions the similarity, with the Quarians and Asari being the two most likely candidates for a double-take reaction.
I always thought the Asari looked different depending on who was looking at them. A background conversation in Mass Effect 2 seems to hint at this at any rate. I might be wrong.

Actually, the fun thing about that conversation is that while the speakers do suggest that as an explanation, the conversation itself implies they simply focused on different aspects of the Asari. The human focused on general body shape, the turian noted the head-fringe, the salarian commented on skin-tone.

I think Tali was better without a face if that makes sense because to make one would destroy preconceptions. The character didnt need one and I think it was wrong to just say "oh ok we'll make a face for her now". It meant nothing other than to answer a question purposfuly designed to go unanswered.

I like the Bioware face for Tali. Not because it makes sense in terms of lore, but because it's so effective at trolling the Tali fanbase.

Personally I think they should have never showed Tali's face in the first place...that takes away the entire mystery behind her character.

I always imagined the Quarians to be really human-like. I don't know why, it just felt right.
So no, I don't like this one. The original is much better. And I don't see a problem with it being a stock photo. It's not important how much time was invested. It's important that it's well done. Since I think it fits her, I think it is well done.

I believe one of the samples in the Art of the Mass Effect Universe got it correct. So I'll just leave this right here.

That picture is stunning, I'm just going to imagine that's what's on Tali's photo from now on. In fact, maybe I'll get bored and try to replace the texture.

That said, Tali's face being a stock photo never bothered me... what did bother me was that her face was an innapropriate stock photo. A photo taken outside in what is obviousy a grassy field. Even if you say the in-universe photo was edited (taken in a Quarrien art studio/clean room and edited in Photoshop 9000: Alien edition) then why would any Quarrien want a photo that reminded them not of a happier time in their past (to my knowledge no living Quarrien in Shepard's time ever lived without a suit) but reminded them of an experiance they could never have. A man keeping a photo of his dead wife is an importent peice of character development, but... well, while I feel a referance to a genetic paraplegic and a tightrope would be in poor taste- crap too late.
Back to the topic: where is she keeping all that hair? It obviously would not fit into her helmet. I wasn't bothered by the cheap photoshopping either... what did bother me was that they photoshopped out the wrong fingers. Look at Tali's hands in game, the best way to replicate that woud have been to edit out the index and ring fingers (then slightly thicken and extend the middle finger if you were feeling advanced or cared about making a deep and meaningful universe for your customers (OH SNAP)), don't just chop off half her hand to make it alien. The cybernetics look cool though.

Oh yeah I went there!
I laughed until a little bit of wee came out. Except not really. Or did I? You'll never (want to) know!
