If I was a trained soldier or the rebellion was giving "take down the oppressive government" classes, I definitely would. But since only the latter would happen, its less than likely.

Or at the very least help people escape the country(along with myself)

Im not a fighter, dont beleive in violence in most situations, but well the way I often put it is, Hitler had to be fought. Certain things must be fought about, and fighting for freedom is one of them. Americas kinda crap, its greedy and stupid, we honestly never have to worry about someone invading us because all they would conquer is a land full of crippling depression and debt. I want a revolution, because peacefull revolutions dont exist
What about Quebec's Quiet revolution? That was entirely peaceful.

Only if all other forms of resistance were exhausted first. Then, I would join an armed resistance.

Fuck the oppressors! Libertarian Communism for all!

Seriously though, if it was bad enough for an armed conflict, I would get in the thick of it
Libertarian Communism? Either you were telling a joke and it went over my head, or you don't know that's a contradiction. But by context I suppose it was the first. On topic, yes I would join said revolution, but I'd also be vigilant for any Castro-like hero-becomes-tyrant leaders of the resistance and fight as hard as possible to get them demoted.

Yes, and support the "Save One Bullet" rule.

If things really took a turn to the worst possible direction it would still take a great deal to get my to rise up. However, having read the journals and memoirs of some viet Cong, I can honestly say that if my parents were killed or dissapeared by the ruling military I would take the same route they took and join an armed resistance. I know enough about survivalism and guerilla tactics to do my part.

Yup. I'm in decent shape and a fairly good shot with a rifle, so no reason not to, really.

It mostly depends on how bad things got. I don't think I would be suited for the shooting gig as I'm neither strong nor versed in combat (in reality, anyway). So, I'd probably take a support role; probably tech or R&D.

For some reason, it seems like there's a certain romanticism of being approached by some stranger and told I could help shape the world for the better. I'm probably just crazy, though.

Modern historians really debate if that was a revolution. It was more of a string of good luck with politicians who actually cared about the people. It wasnt so much a revolution as a number of steps towards what the people wanted. Not all of what the people wanted or what was right, but it was a few steps

depends but if I were to go into rebellion I wouldn't be on the front lines I'd be on the sidelines checking equipment and that

It depends on the cause. If the government was pulling innocent civilians out of their homes and shooting them. Then, absolutely. Without a doubt. If they were doing that to convicted felons (crimes like murder, torture, high treason, terrorism, etc.), then no, I'd join the government forces fighting them instead.

What if the govenment were acusing the rebels of terrorism? this is often the case to justify the executions to the bystanders.

Depends. What would their charges be? Speaking out against the government? Not terrorism. Bombing key buildings (with innocent government workers, or civilians inside, mind you), in an effort to send a message out? Definitely terrorism.

I would never join an armed rebellion, but an organized, civil one would be just fine with me.

I would not fight if that is what you mean, I am not the fighting type, but regardless I would find some way to help without fighting since I am not the kind of guy to conform to that kind of shit either
