NO. No way, I couldn't! Just thinking about it crying and lying there whimpering...

I replied to the pig topic and the difference here to me is that we're eating the pigs for nourishment. It's pointless & cruel to kick a puppy for no reason at all.

Besides, $15 is nothing. Not worth it. Not even $100. You'd have to at least hit 4-5 digits for me to even consider doing something like that.

Fill it with helium then kick it. Then it's like a bouncy ball.

I wonder how many replies this comment will get.

At least one.

That would be a funny looking bouncy ball.

I won't kick the puppy, but I'll kick the asshole's who started this in the knees hard enough to break the joint. Then I'd kick their throats and watch them gasp for air through their crushed windpipes.

Would i kick a puppy for 15 USD?
I guess.... Id be a bit worried about why you asked me to kick a puppy in the first place. ((YOU SICK F*CK))

If nobody but me, you, and the puppy knew that i kicked it, then i guess i would. I see 0 consequence to it, and 15 USD profit in it.

If it were a kitten, i would say, "No". But then i would follow it up with, "Add to zeros to the end of that and i might consider it."

Yes, i know, cold and heartless. But i might be out of a job soon. In this day and age, pity for a lesser creature has its limits. And on a puppy, thats 15 USD.

I dont mind eating any animal, if it was bred solely for that purpose. And no, I wouldn't kick neither puppy nor pig.

Even I, someone who HATES dogs (yes you heard me right) wouldn't kick one for any reason, unless it was like attacking me. I just wouldnt hurt an animal for no good reason.

Where's the "No, and I'll throttle anyone who does kick the puppy." option?

I don't like it when anyone hurts an animal without a true purpose.

Shooting a deer so you can eat? I'm fine with that.

Killing/hurting a dog/wolf/anything because it's trying to kill/hurt you? Also fine with that.

Harming an animal for the hell of it, or simply for money? I will think less of you as a person for all eternity (polite way of saying you're a cold hearted evil bastard).

As unsavoury as the thought of butchering pigs/cows/chickens/etc is, I recognize that without these practices, many of the general population wouldn't be able to survive, and I'll be honest, if I had to kill animals to get my own food, I'd probably become a vegetarian. So I'm fine with things like slaughterhouses, because without them I wouldn't be able to get the meat I love so much.

I apply these to every animal in existence. I don't think that certain cultures are weird, gross, or evil for eating cats or dogs. Just because I view them as pets doesn't mean the entire world does. Same goes for cows and pigs. However, there is one rule I always stand by. Harming animals for the sake of harming them is unnacceptable, if not just totally evil and sadistic (seriously, if you just attack an animal for no reason, and without provocation, there's something wrong with you).

Everytime you kick a puppy your penis shrinks 1/4 inch.
Today has been a terrible day, but that... That made me smile...

Yeah, if you could bring yourself to kick a puppy, fuck you. Dogs rock. If I saw someone kick a puppy, I would probably break half of their ribs before I came down off my righteous battle fury long enough to realize what I was doing...

So there was a topic recently about eating intelligent pigs, and apparently people like the taste of bacon more than they like the idea of not eating rational creatures. This disturbed me a little bit, even if a lot of the replies were probably tongue in cheek.

In response, I'm trying to come up with a situation where people might have their intuitions go the other way about animals. Imagine a cute puppy. If you can't, here's some help.

Would you kick that puppy for $5?

Edit: Some people have asked how hard you have to kick the puppy. You have to kick it hard enough to hurt it significantly, but not hard enough to kill it. You might cause it severe or permanent injury; that uncertainty is part of the problem.

Double edit: Some people have responded that $5 is not a whole lot of money. Let's make it $15. Hopefully that would be enough to make it worth your time, without affecting the moral issue.
...Wow OP, could you fail at comparison any harder?

Food =/= Financial Gain

One is necessity, one is greed.
kthxbye

...you know we can survive without eating meat in modern society, right? It's not necessary to kill animals for food anymore.

Edit: Is your username a hint that I shouldn't have responded to this?

Of course I'd kick a puppy. For science. A human puppy. Off a cliff. To prove that gravity exists. Yeah...something like that. For science, of course.

Again, not saying you should kick a puppy. I was just interested in how many people would. I'd pick the unconditional no option myself.
