No,
I'd call child services. They'd take the child to hospital and the parents to court. Kid would probably be taken from their care.
They'd get called in, the parents would probably make a fuss and start bitching, similarly religious people would protest and stop the police getting in, then the media turns up and the story ends up as "Government Wants to Stop Religious Beliefs in Your Own Home". Then the kid dies.
You know that would happen.

Not in Sweden :D
(seriously, they would be taken from their parents. And people would say that the parents are abusing the child)

Nope. It will get me sent to jail and the kid straight back to the family. Nobody's going to believe a rambling person coming to a hospital with a small kid claiming he/she has cancer.

i have... twice this week in fact

Don't worry Madeleine McCann aint dead yet..

i like it when she scratches..

(i better put a disclaimer because some people are fucking tools "this is a joke, done in dark humor")
That's not dark humor, and any kind of humor. It's shock, and it's cheap.
not cheap i paid good money for that line.
Son... you've overpayed...

And to answer the OP, no. I wouldnt kidnap the child to save/her/his life, but I would beat aome sense into one of the said parents, before offering to drive them to the hospital for the childs treatment... and the one parent's treatment for "falling down the stair, (beat) seveal times..."

Yeah child protective services is probably the better idea.
Considering how kidnapping of a child of any kind is generally frowned upon. I agree.

Totally off topic, but I love your avatar and I miss that game. We're on Civ 5, but we can't have a SMAC 2?

I'm sure you're not allowed to not let your child have medical attention. So, uh, no I wouldn't kidnap a child, just get SS involved or something.

Personally i would call my elite team of ninjas to whisk him away to the local Witch doctor.
What, you asked a hypothetical question, i replied with a hypothetical answer.

I'm pretty sure its a crime in the UK to fail to seek medical attention for your kids. (Let me know if I'm wrong).

So, I dont think I would need to abduct a kid, social services would do that for me.
But otherwise, no, I would definately try and draw attention to it, protest, etc. But, you cant just turn up to a hospital with a kid you just nicked.

Wouldn't kidnap the kid myself, would contact Child Protective Services and get the kid out of that situation and given the treatment it needs. When the actions or inaction of the parents are grossly detrimental to the welfare of the child, there are systems in place to deal with that sort of situation for a reason.

Freedom of religion doesn't even enter into it. One's freedom of religion extends only as far as the person themselves; it ceases to be a factor the moment it abridges the rights of another person. In this case, the parents' right to religious freedom would be intersecting with the child's basic human right to life. The kid's age doesn't factor, either - guardianship of a minor doesn't mean that the minor is property, they've still got rights that are protected under the law.

I think the very mentioning of that episode sort of answers your question. The final resolution wasn't that Peter and Lois kidnapped the kid. It was that they just talked with the parents and explained that perhaps medicine and doctors ARE agents of God among us ready to answer our prayers for health. If they had just sat down with them and said that the first time they went to their house they could have had the whole thing resolved in 15 minutes :p

So, yeah. That's my perspective on it. By kidnapping the kid you do not change their ideals, in fact you probably just cement them further.

Hmmmm?
A christian kid dies because christian parents are stupid?

If that was a game show I'd watch it every day.

Answer: NO. If you're that ignorant your kids can die as slowly and painfully as you want them to

Perhaps if it was something a lot more serious than them refusing to treat their child's cancer. Ususally I would just call the police, but if, say, I had just discovered a child who had been badly beaten by their family, I would take the child to my home to look after him/her until the police arrived. I wouldn't call it kidnapping though :/

Kidnapping is unethical. It's not unreasonable to pray even in such extreme and laughable circumstances.
It is unreasonable to pray and not do anything else about it.

OT: Well, fortunately, there's no way they'd get away with that (not over here at least) so I wouldn't have too. But if that was the case, and no one would do anything, then I'd like to think so.

I wouldn't so much kidnap the child as (get a bunch of guys much tougher than me which means just about anyone and then) break into the parent's home and tell them they really should be seeking actual medical attention for their child. While it might be difficult since they're evidently crazy people, convincing them with the threat of massive repeated property damage will be easier than the whole process of kidnap-then-take-to-hospital-somehow-without-getting-caught.

actually, no, more realistic again: Find somebody with more balls than me with similar views re: these people are crazy, and suggest they do something like this.
