Poll: Would you kill a man?

If it was my life in danger, I'd probably try to escape or reason with the person.

If my girlfriend was in danger, I'd rip out the person's spine and make them swallow it.

Maxthereaper, you obviously have issues with the worth of a human life. I don't care what he did or might be doing, but NO CRIME makes the man deserve death! You obviously have social issues and need to seriously see a psychologist or if not head to a nearby church/synagogue/ etc. You need to realize people can change( or it might not even have been with his anger it may have just been a social, personal, or mental problem.) and if you do the best possible thing and disable him, he can get help and live another day, but as a better man.

Also, if he had a family, could you imagine the heartache and sorrow that would be caused?

But, I think, you should always try to find the best possible solution and if you can't I think you should shoot him, but try to keep him alive until paramedics arrive.

If someone breaks into my house and I have the option I would kill them rather than wait and see what they're going to do. If they're breaking into your house while they know someone is home they've already prepared themselves for the possibility that they might have to kill someone, or be killed. I'd rather the former than the latter. If it's just someone that confronts me on the street, is pissed off, road raged, what have you I'd rather avoid that and try to disarm the situation, usually no need for lethal force in most situations. However once they break into your residence, I would say lethal force is justified since they've proved that logic doesn't apply to them.

Problem is with just incapacitating or disabling them, there is the chance that they're going to get out of prison in a few years, know who you are and where you live, and be pissed that you put them in jail. Or they could sue for damages as well.

i probably wouldn't call emergency services first, because it takes nearly 20 minutes for them to even get to my house - and that's without the difficulty of having to find it.

...actually i probably would. i would love a decent excuse to kill someone, and in this situation it sounds like i could easily get away with it.

In that situation, I have no reason not to kill him.

The law is even on my side. Which, while not of the uptmost importance to me, is a nice bonus.

I would kill him even if he wasn't directly threatening my life, but was just there to steal stuff.

Its really difficult to say what you would do in a situation like that. You just have to hope that you have the capacity to protect yourself and/or others that may need your help at that time.

Ideally though, yes I would kill an individual that poses a threat to me, my loved ones, or innocent bystanders.

Maybe you insulted them, or did something that they were so filled with rage about, that they decided that they were going to kill you. So, he goes into your house intent on killing you. You call 911, but the police can't do much for you if he is in your home and coming at you with a gun and they are not already there. They only way you can live is to kill him.

The reason that I ask this question is because a friend and I got into an argument about this topic when I told him about a man that I met who is an ex-marine. He refuses to answer the question because he "knows" that something like this won't happen to him.

Also, the original question was "If you have to kill a man before he kills you, do you do it?" but he asked me to come up with a situation. And, yes, I would do it.

So, I want to know how everyone here feels about the topic. Maybe I'm wrong, and I'm willing to except that. I just want to know what you all think.

I would kill him for breaking in period. The guy obviously does not value his life all that much if he is willing to break into my house, thus I shall offer him no quarter. He can count his blessings if I do not kill him with the first shot. Frankly if all I had was a knife, I'd stab him to death without a thought, call 911 and only be slightly irritated he wasted my time.

Hell I want to get a sign for my yard that reads: "No trespassing. Trespassers will be shot, survivors will be shot again."

And that's why you would wind up dead in said situation. Sometimes there isn't another way, life isn't always fair.

If there's no other way and my family/friends/loved ones are also in danger, I'll gladly end the fuckers life. He's in my house, threatening me, my friends and my loved ones. He didn't back off when I warned him. Thus, I have every right to kill him if I must.
