I would gut him like a fish with my katana as my three knives ritualistically penetrate his skull and each of his shoulders.
Pff, you wouldn't be able to do it rituistically, whats the guy doing? Standing there?

I would, but I wouldn't do it lightly and I wouldn't take pleasure in it. Anyone who does is pathetic, not cool.
EDIT: You are right, anyone that has ever killed someone knows that it eats away at them slowly for the rest of your life. And saying things like a ritualistic killing is really sad because we all know two things.
1. You really wouldn't do anything like that
2. Saying things like that on the internet to people on the escapist make you look like a bad ass

It makes him look like a badass?
for me it actually makes him look like so who does not reaaaally know what he is talking about.

And I believe the whole question of the thread should not be would you kill him but could you kill him because, simply put, I highly doubt that 90% of you would be able to kill a robber. Mainly because of the psychological problems. It is easy to say 'heck, I would kill him' but actually doing it is a totally different matter.
I would say most of you, like I probably would, would run the hell for their lives if an armed robber comes into your house at night and call 911.

I think it's funny how you guys are taking what I said as anything more than dark humor.

But seriously though, I would kill him. Not like how I described, I'm actually not a sadist at all. I'd try to make it quick and painless.

I sleep with a knife under my pillow.

I'd try not to, I'd try to reason with him or incapacitate him, but if he's a Marine then he's probably fluent in close quarters combat, so I may not have a choice. Either way, I'd probably be ethically cleared. The most common attack levied at those who've killed to protect their own life is the Two Wrongs Fallacy: if you accept that killing is wrong then you must accept that you were wrong to kill, regardless of reason. However, the Two Wrongs Fallacy has something of a get out clause in which a wrong action committed specifically to negate another wrong action can be justified. Or at least that's what this source claims.

Whether or not I would feel guilt over it is a different matter. If I felt that I'd willingly been the initial cause in the causal chain that had led to the man's death then I'd feel guilty.

To be honest I have no hangups about killing someone who has the obvious will and way to kill me, I also wouldn't hesitate to kill someone who is trying to harm a loved one.

This isn't really that hard of a scenario because morally, it's in your right to defend yourself...

hell, even the -freaking law- wouldn't punish you for it.

To make a more difficult scenario, it needs to be far more controversial
Ok how about this. The man is pregnant and his unborn baby will grow up to cure cancer. Now what will you do?

There's always another way.
I'd might die if I messed up, but I am an eternal optimist.
And to answer your original question: no, never.
And that's why you would wind up dead in said situation. Sometimes there isn't another way, life isn't always fair.

I would have no qualms about killing him at all. You void your right to life when you attempt to infringe on mine.
I don't think so. I'm a pretty dangerous person when cornered. People generally are when you take away all their other options. And I'm good at running.

There is also the matter of whether or not I would ever even get into the situation in the first place.

But put simply, and given the extremely hypothetical situation at hand, the answer is still no.

If I knew I wouldn't get in trouble for it and someone seriously managed to piss me off beyond redemption then yes I probably would pull the trigger.

I couldn't live with the knowledge that I took someone else's life. Sure, he may have done, but that doesn't mean I have to. The pansy in me speaking.

I'd kill him and not lose any sleep.

Actually, I'd probably sleep a lot better knowing my possible murderer is dead.........how many people are unlucky enough to have two potential murderers in the world!

Yes, but tortue them slowly before hand, won't describe it because I don't want coppers coming round my house asking me why I was posting gruesome idealogies and vocabulary on the internet and be thrown into a nut-house. And no I wouldn't have any guilty feeling towards the victim, the family might say I'm a cold hearted bastard for killing their son, but all I can say is "You shouldn't of brought him a dickhead then should you". Mainly because the people I wish to kill are complete and utter twats.

If someone attacks me, I have the right to defend myself. If I could only do that by killing someone, then yes, i would do it.

EDIT:eek:r try to

If need be, yes. If he intends to kill me for an inadequate reason, or if he intends to kill any innocent people in general, I will eliminate him.

Well, if he has a gun and I don't, I'm most likely fucked anyway.
So I suppose I have a gun too and can pull it on him faster. Well, I think I'd kill him, but I'd definitely feel wrong for it.
But if you have to go close quarters, then there's no need to kill them: hit the guy smack dab in his face and he'll definitely go asleep.
Of course if he tried to kill someone I care about, I'd rip him apart in a second.
