As horrible as the things he did were, I feel like we would be much worse off nowadays if it hadn't happened, Wouldn't wanna risk it...

Well...there's always the option of KIDNAPPING the child and rasing him yourself. Though if you remove Hitler from the time stream don't you remove the reason you went back in the first place? There by creating a time paradox?

Frankly I don't care about the "you're in your 50s yadda yadda"...

If I could go back in time and prevent the murder of six million Jewish people and who knows what else by throwing a single baby against a wall...

Uh...

That's a no brainer. So very yes.
People always forget about the other people cleansed by the Nazis including but not limited to 30 million slavs (russians, poles, etc), 1.5 million gypsies and even 3 million undesirable germans. The systematic annihilation of Jews wasnt unique or even as thorough as what happened to the gypsies FFS.

No, the changes could do more harm than good, far far more harm than good there's just no possible way to know. Also who's to say someone wouldn't do the same? Hitler did have that one spiritual guy basically tell him he's the savior of Germany and what not. So who's to say that couldn't happen to someone else more vicious? There's always someone better at what you do after all.

I wouldn`t kill him, but instead take him out of Germany. The whole reason he gained so much influence originated with Mein Kampf which wouldn`t have been written if he hadn`t been part of WW1. Essentially as long as he never became a soldier he wouldn`t have the problems that led him to become a Fascist Dictator. However, the Nazi Party was already in place before Hitler entered politics, it was only a matter of time.

No.

I'd go back in time and kidnap baby Hitler and then raise him as a normal, non-murderous child. His insane Jew-killing ways weren't with him at birth.

At least, I seriously hope not o_O

One word: Rehabilitation. I would make sure he was nurtured and loved and taught that all people are equals. Not just Jewish, all races and religions, otherwise you run the risk of him using another people as a scapegoat.

No. Fucking with the timeline is a very bad thing. It's possible that circumstances could conspire to make things even worse than how they turned out to be. Maybe someone with a much better grasp of strategy would have risen as the leader of the Nazi party, and the Axis would have won WWII. Maybe the horror of dropping the bombs on Japan would not have taught us that nuclear weapons should never be used except at the uttermost end, and we would have had full-scale nuclear war at some point. Or good things could have happened. Killing Hitler would have far, far more consequences than "oh, 6 million Jews are now alive that would have been killed in the Holocaust".

WWII has just ended. Youre in your 50s. Youre single with no family, and your friends died during the war. The horrors of the holocaust have just been revealed. Doc Brown has recently created a time machine out of a ford model T. Hes offering you the opportunity to go back in time and kill Hitler, with the chance of the time stream going awry affecting you negatively is very slim considering your place in existence.

This ultimately comes down to morality question. Could you bring yourself to kill a baby? If so, how do you do it?

Quite frankly, I don't know if I have the balls to kill a baby. Even if it was gonna grow up to be hitler.
If you killed Baby Hitler, and the Allied Powers still forced Germany after WWI into an extreme poverty. You'd STILL get basically the same results out of it. Jews would still likely be targeted, innocent people would still die.

You need to cure the disease instead of trying to eliminate those afflicted by it.

I would try to either avoid WWI or just stop the insane drain on Germany after the war. It was just bullying for revenge at that point.

Anyone who thinks that Hitler dying would have stopped some kind of horror should be reminded he wasn't the only person talking. He also wasn't even the most charismatic person on his payroll.

Heavy.

Anyway, yeah I can probably kill a baby. Just put a time traveling computer with a time traveling internet connection in the DeLorean Model T so I can just ignore baby Hitler while I play some mediocre Facebook game.

I probably couldn't live with myself though. ...No, not the baby Hitler killing part. The using Facebook part. :p Screw Hitler, regardless of how old he is.

But seriously, probably a bad idea. Even if I set aside the obvious Red Alert references, leaving Stalin/the USSR unchecked in that time period could be a very bad idea in its own right.

Bonus round: Your time machine only has enough power for one trip. Whom do you save: Abraham Lincoln or John F. Kennedy?

I'd probably rise him and do my best to make him both gay and Jewish. (and possibly black if I could pull it off) The irony would be great even if no one else would ever get it.

I dunno, if they can send me back in time, can't I just... help him get into art school or something?
This

Fun fact for those who don't get it: If Hitler was not denied acess to the art institute he wanted to go to, he would have never been a ruthless dictator who killed minorities such as gays and blinds.

WW2 did alot of great things that we all benefitted from after the war.
Unfortunately, it also did some very bad things. And no, I think the sudden death of over 50 Million people is not a bad thing, it´s a world war dammit, it also frees up the planet from the burden that is our existance, BUT the holocaust was still arse. Both in a sense that it killed alot of innocent people (NOT only JEWS!), but the after shock is STILL felt, which I dislike alot.

But if I could kill baby Hitler? It was attempted in Twilight Zone, they failed, because the baby Adolf they killed was just some fine austrian newborn, the one that became "The Hitler" was some beggar women´s baby which she sold to Mrs. Hitler because she was afraid of her husband after the dissapearence of his only son.

I would also create a power vacuum that might be filled by someone less crazy, and more hellbent on war and killing untermenschen, that would probably result in much more death and a much more prolonged war, because without Hitlers crazyness, the Soviets and Allies couldn´t have kicked his ass that fast.

So no, I would not kill Hitler...I would however become one of his most trusted advisors and might shake him off the idea of killing non-aryans, because it is inefficient and costs alot of money. Maybe I give him plans for stuff that humanity benefitted from (Spaceworthy rockets, Jet Engine, whatever)... Or maybe make him win the war, I dunno...

Since it is all hypothetical, I wouldn´t know how to react exactly.

But since evil is subjective, and humans aren´t born with the inherit programming of hate and destruction, I would probably make him a better person. I would also make sure that everyone gets a copy of "Mein Kampf" prior to his election so everyone can see what a crazy lunatic he was.
I dunno, there are more ways then kill him as an infant...
Maybe I would make one of the dozens of assasination attempts work, like slapping Stauffenberg over the head saying "take both charges you twit!"...
Millions of possibilitys, I cannot decide.

Could I? Yes. But would I? Probably not.

In the end, Hitler lost World War 2 and did not form a world under his command. Racial and religious tollerance today is partially because of him ('Hitler was racist so obviously racism is wrong'. Not saying that thinking's right, but it is common.) and the horrors of the Second World War have made current world leaders very cautious about starting another conflict on its scale.

You also have to consider technology created by the war, putting Nukes aside (and technically, that was America in their fight against Japan) we have things like advanced airplane technology and modern weapons and armour wouldn't be nearly effective at keeping people alive (yes I do mean that: shooting first, more reliably and more accuratly at the people about to shoot you is a great way to stay alive) if it wasn't for concentrated research during the war. In fact we can even including nukes; some of the rocket technology that went towards ICBMs also helped the first space flights.

And we give up all this for what, some other evil, morally bankrupt dictator (the sort of person who is going to rise to power is post-WW1 Germany) can commit attrocities perhaps exceeding Hitlers', maybe even winning the war and commiting them worldwide for generation to come? No. War is never pleasent, but the good guys pretty much unarguably won in the World Wars. I'd leave that alone.
