Meh a hugs a hug, if a stranger offers it why the hell not? I'd rather give the hug, and maybe brightened someone's day, or just feel better myself, then stay paranoid that he's a psycho, or a pickpocket, fear already governs too many of our decisions why let it control aanymore

People seem to do it as a way of trying to unnerve you; so I hug them just to show I'm not bothered.

That said, I once had this guy a couple years younger than me pounce me and wrap his arms and legs around my torso because he saw me hugging a few of his friends just that minute and said he "Felt left out."
So, all-in-all, I'm pretty desensitised to hugging. I'm trying to stop doing it so much, however, I want it to mean something when I give a hug. How else will I comfort people?!

Last summer at Speakers Corner, Hyde Park, I was doing some people photography. There was a guy talking to everyone about how everything was OK and that you should be happy with who you are. He had a group of 30 strangers skipping around happily. Made a nice change to the scary lunatics!

He offered free hugs to everyone, so I took one!
