Except you don't have to be a furry to want to have a tail

I can think of a few practical applications besides the "I'm a furry and I want a tail because I'm playing a fursona." (Ment in the best and nicest tone possible, but I'm having a grumpy day so I might come off a bit snarky. My apologies in advance.)

On topic:

Do I want a tail?
Well it would be hard to get some clothing that fits now would it not?
Or actually yeah I guess I would want one, if I can somehow work out the oddities that come along with it (like sitting on a chair or couch. Something tells me it can't be that pleasant to sit on your tail ya know?).

It also depends, do I get to decide wether I get fur or not? Because a human tail would be hairless, like a rat's tail I suppose. I'd pass if that was the case.

Well, all I mean is "he's a furry" would be the immediate assumption of the lay-person. Or that you were severely inbred.

I never said that I hate furries, I have nothing against them. So there goes the answer to your first question.
To the second one, how is it not furry? Who in the right mind would want a tail unless they had some underlying desire to be an animal?

I never said you as an individual, nor did i say people hate furries, it's just people hate the idea of it, for no logical reason, maybe because it's something easily discriminated against. i never meant anything against you or assuming you disliked furries.

also, a furry is mostly covered in fur, has a muzzle, and looks much like an animal. they're anthropomorphic animals. just having a tail or cat ears does not make you furry. for example, the sayians from DBZ are not furries. catgirls are rarely considered furries.

Yep yep. And we all know what assumptions are made about that walk of life

And you're right. Assumptions are easily made and easily the wrong ones are made the fastest.

No, not really. Tails are useful for balancing for quadrupeds but I walk on two legs.

Yeah, but to give you stable flight you'll need some sort of tail... Maybe make it retractable too? You'd be a 'SURPRISE!' Dragon... thing.

Hell yeah, gimme retractable fire breathing glands too!

How about you just get to turn into a dragon at will? You'd be all like:

-Traffic yam? Fly away.
-Parking ticket? Burn it (and the officer too?).
-Hungry? Eat a cow.

That would be so awesome but then the FBI would try to catch you and use you as a weapon as always.

Certainly interested, but it would depend what sort of tail. If it was like Zidane, a proper monkey tail that would let me do all sorts of cool stuff, then yes. If it was more like a useless little devil tail, then probably still yes for the cool factor, but it would be a bit more useles and just make it hard to find trousers or sit down.

Having a prehensile tail could be useful, but it could also be kind of a nuisance having to mind where it is all the time to prevent it getting caught in doors or the like.
Personally, I'd rather have an extra set of arms.

you can't use your legs for that? um, that was an odd question. maybe I'm the only one who can do this. i can stand on one foot, and manipulate stuff with the other. also i don't have to bend over to pick stuff up. I always get an odd reaction from others about that.

if that's your intention, then you'll need more eyes. also, i can type with my feet, not hard. long toes, and good coordination. it's just hard to hit the right keys, and i use my hands 99% of the time.

That may be true, but the general usefulness of extra arms is still an enticing idea.

I always thought a big fluffy husky tail would be styling. It would make sitting down uncomfortable though
