I think some people are taking this thread just a smidgen too seriously, it's just a throwaway hypothetical. I don't like kids (I'm talking more of those 12 and under, teens vary from person to person) I don't have any particular desire to interact with them and I don't think anything in my day to day existence would be effected by their absence. So I voted yes.

The male and female options are really to see what gender ratios would be like in the city.
You do realise that's going to be thrown off by the fact that roughly 80% (if not more) users on this site are male? (That being said I think a city of no kids would be more enticing to those with a Y chromosome anyway.)
Still generates ratios. Admittedly the larger and therefore more accurate sample will be male, although I would suspect gamers may be biased, so it isn't necessarily accurate anyway.

I hate to sound like a crotchety old git, but I would honestly like to live in a place with no-one under the age of 18. Children and young adolescents just really annoy me and I can't see my life being less for living without them.

I like kids and they seem to get on with me pretty well, probably doesn't help that I want to be a teacher too so a city like that wouldn't work with me, so no I woudn't live in a city like that; it'd be so boring.

P.S btw I'm Male.

I have recently moved into a neighborhood where a lot MORE children live. And it's an apartment complex with, like, a front yard area type of thing, so the "darn kids" (lol) are playing right outside my window all day long.

And I love it here. This is 1000 times more relaxing than my old neighborhood. The kids don't bother me one bit, I don't even have to raise my music volume to hear shit. They're background noise, but they're not loud - and if they are, it's kids having fun. How is that cause for rants and raging? It's great.

Especially considering the alternatives. Drunks, traffic, public transportation right outside, traffic, construction with no end, and traffic.

The other upside - half the people who live here are parents or something. They don't give a shit if I do crank up some kickass music, a bombastic movie or my favourite games. It doesn't even bother anyone if I forget to put on my headphones at night (but have stuff on normal volume, obviously). My "noise" is the least of anyone's problems.

Old place? Full of old people who "need their sleep" and have superman-hearing through 7 walls. WTF!

I guess it would be allright, but after a few years i might want to have children, then i would have to abandon my home, job and friends. Same would apply to my coleagues and friends and it would suck. Not to mention that soon it would be crowded with old people, because everyone else would have left to make families and i don't see newcomers rushing in in a hurry to a place with no future. And i don't think that they really bother me all that much, unless i have to babysit one, then all hell breaks loose.

This would just be weird. like something would just feel entirely off.
It'd feel like you were living in a city from Grand Theft Auto.
Yeah its strange.I never notice it in games, but in real life I do. I'm currently couch surfing (mooching) in a gated community where there can be weeks with no kids to be seen. So to go without seeing them at all would just creep me out.

No, but not because I love children, rather in a city without children sex would be everywhere and it'd get boring.

Could I live in a City where I pick what Children live there? Chuck all the asshole, nasty, annoying little brats out and keep the cool ones in.

Yes, I dislike children. Well, maybe not children themselves, but being around them can be annoying as hell. And their parent are even worse. Why does one have to have a driver's license, but no parentage license?

"But but but, children are our future!"

Not mine. When I'm dead, I'm dead. Having children won't make a difference to me.

"But but but, the miracle of procreation!"

I wouldn't call something rabbits do far better than people a miracle. Yes, I'd be a horrible parent, so I won't be.

Okay, maybe that's a bit drastic... Suffice to say, I wouldn't mind not having children around. As it is now, usually I barely register their presence anyway, so whatever.

Added bonus: no weird pedophiles in town.

No. Why? Because in my experience "I don't like kids" is a secret code that actually means "I am a self-centered asshole"
And "Stop doing XYZ in front of my child." is a secret code that actually means... "I am a self-centered asshole."

OT: Male, and absolutely. I hate children. All of them. I don't see why I would want to interact with what is basically just a stupid person that can't learn. What a nightmare.
