Not really - extreme centralised authority is a means of instituting socialism (frex, in Lenin's socialism), but that authority should go away once socialism is instituted (since it now serves no purpose). The problem is that the revolutionary process inspires more call to revolution, so more authority is given, and that authority becomes very self-perpetuating. Really, the Russian Revolution was continuing for decades after 1917.
