Nope, she's all synthetic. It's just her mind that's human. In the manga and Stand Alone Complex there are several scenes of her switching complete bodies due to damage, and she makes several references to how she struggled to control the body as a young girl. She has a human mind, but is for all intents and purposes physically synthetic. Mentally, no one could fall for a robot that was just an advanced calculator; they must have strong human qualities and presence for someone to fall in love with them. Thus, I'm counting her.

I don't think you're entirely right. Mostly, but not entirely. Full cyborgs like her and Batou still have a brainstem in their cyberbrain. It's not much, but it's a little bit.

I find the idea abhorrent. Already, roboticists are working on the Chobits-style useless humanoid robots rather than useful ugly ones. It's more than a pet peeve for me; IT PISSES ME RIGHT OFF.

The Bicentennial Man was a pretty good movie that had something like that going on, but I didn't believe for a second that I was watching a robot, even if it didn't look like Robin Williams.
