Maybe. I'm non-religious myself but if they'd pick the right story and executed it the right way... why not?

yeah, i would play it if it was done well. one myth is just as good as another for making games out of.

Some parts might need to be changed to make the story a bit more interesting or acceptable to a modern audience, but i think the seeds of a good game are in there.

i would but i'd now how it ends

Spoiler: Jesus die's
But this is a game! Right before the cut scene ends, you can hit X, and Jesus breaks the cross in half and you get an extra level where you have to escape! That leaves the game open for a sequel! But it wouldnt be based off the bible at all.

Yes BUT it could only work if it was an Old-Testament based game. Why you ask? New Testament was only about Jesus and his roadies. Nobody want's to hear about that and we as a people are not ready for snuff games ... well ... we are [Manhunt] but that would be a mini-game at best.

Old Testament is great though: Egyptians forcing the enslaved Jewish people to build the Pyramids? That could easily be a sim-city/ civilization style game. Jonah being devours by the great fish? A boating sim with educational functions where marine life is concerned. Moses escaping to the promised land with the newly freed slaves could be like Dynasty Warriors until he gets to the Red Sea ... we can turn his parting said sea into a series of quick-time-events ... A quick-time-event of ... Biblical scale xD

*sigh*

ya know what? No, I take it back. I don't want to play any games based off of the bible. Norse Mythology is much more game-compatable and I believe the early Christians even adopted the story of Ragnarok into their beginning story as cannon so as to convert the Norse people. Too Human is a bad example of Norse Mythology in gaming but it could be adapted in a way to make it really good ... hopefully without ripping off God of War ...

Which version? Alot of religions share the same stories but do different ideas.
Just sounds like the controversy attracting games.

Probably, but there has yet to be a good game based off of the Bible. This is kind of strange when you think about it, considering all the violence, sex, adventure, and magic.

I'm pretty sure that religious Christians would take offense to the idea of their holy book being turned into a video game. But, being nonreligious, the actual plot of the Bible would be a pretty cool game.

The Book of Enoch would be cool. As ofcourse would Armageddon. Isn't Darksiders kind of based on it. Four Horsemen and all that..?

Wait, Solomon's Key [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solomon%27s_Key] wasn't based on the bible?

Maybe a RTS involving Joshua/Solomon/Maccabees? Or even a FPS playing as Judah "The Hammer" Maccabee? You could take plenty of liberty with those, the wars lasted years but were summed up in short books.

I think it would be very fun if done right, but it would be very very difficult to do right in my opinion. Even ignoring what they would need todo to avoid controversy it would be very very difficult to avoid every fight (from the new testament portion that is) just becoming: "lol, im jesus". But like you said, they are powerful stories even if you don't believe in their religous signifigants and could make a great game.

War of the Hammer, David vs. Goliath and (i imagine this one being a side quest since its not strictly in the bible) the wanderings of Cain after his banishment from humanity.

At first I would say yes as long as they picked a good story and put actual effort into it, but then I remembered that anybody who makes a bible game never puts any effort into making it an actual game but rather some kind of educational crap to beat you over the head with, so NO, I wouldn't.
