I play a game that's good, so I voted other.

Bearing in mind that devs have to pander to the lowest common denominator. These are 12 year old homophobic kiddies = no games sold to them = financial disaster

If Army of 2 is any indication then being gay men in video games is not fun. Controlling lesbians in The Sims 2 is fun so I could get into that.

What? why does this even matter?

The only reason for a character to be gay is if the player makes them gay or if them being gay has heavy significance towards the plot.

Otherwise their sexuality is hardly an issue. Master Chief could be gay and it wouldn't make a difference.
Many American devs like to shove a female love interest into games, I'd think it would be interesting if it was a male love interest(mostly likely equally annoying though)
Which is exactly why I said it would have to be significant toward the plot.

I don't want them to throw in a pointless gay romance scene any more than I would want them to throw in a pointless straight romance scene.

What's with all the gay threads recently?!

And I image the thought of a lesbian may attract a few females. You know, those lesbians...

Already played one with a lesbian main character.
Fear Effect. Hana was a lesbian. And the first Fear Effect game was fantastic.

I've been able to play through games even when the main character or support is completely unlikeable (Kratos) or an annoying misogynistic asshole with about 5 lines they spout over and over and over (Issun). I'd have absolutely no problem with a gay character, it could easily make for some more interesting character dynamics than most games currently have.
Plus lesbians are hawt lolololololollll!!!!1111one

As long as he's not a stereotypical gay guy, with the lisp and all.

does it really matter? maybe if it creates an interesting plot line that would be pretty cool actually... but of course gameplay needs to be there too.

Homosexuals are the same as heterosexuals in scope of most games.

There wouldn't be a difference unless the game was sexual in nature.

I wouldnt mind any thing really.

Altought If the was some very vivid guy on guy friskyness In an MSG4 lengthed cutscene, I might start to get uncomfortable. Otherwise I belive I could take any thing.

I would actully liek an activly gay protaginist. No so much the we need it would that it would be a nice change to the regular stock characters that we play.

I do belive that plot significant obseverable sexuality does tend to hinder gameplay or development. So in the end I prefer my seemingly asexualy protaginist.

I really want to be annoyed that someone even asked this, but the sad fact is that some people honestly would avoid a game if they knew the main character was gay.

Grow up.

Well it all depends. Because most of the time, the characters' sexuality isn't really pointed out in most games. I would only assume that if a character was gay, it would be for shock value or just because it's a taboo subject and would be shoved in our faces. It's like the movie Milk or Brokeback Mountain. There's nothing special about these movies, it's just that the main character(s) are homosexual and was so critically acclaimed because it was not something you see a lot of in movies. I know that if I said that I didn't like a certain game with a gay main character, someone would almost inevitably say that I didn't like it because there was a gay person in it. It's pretty silly actually.

It doesn't make a bit of difference to me, as long as they don't shove it into your faces and make a big deal out of it. You don't see straight characters making out with each other 24/7, so why should gay characters? Knowing the corrupt video game company, they would make the character gay for shock value and free news. That's what happened with Mass Effect (and I am not saying that Mass Effect is bad, it just got free marketing from Fox News) and what probably would happen if they tried this.

So what I'm saying is if it was just pointed out that he/she was gay and they left it at that, then I'm alright with playing it. If a big deal is made out of it, then no.

I don't see why not. I mean, I don't look at box art and think "Oh man, that dude looks straight! This game is going to rock!" Why would it be the opposite if the main character were homosexual?
