Be a Dragon.
But only if it's a Golden Dragon from the Witcher games. And since I forget how to do spoiler tags every time I need them, I'll leave it at that.

Own a dragon... because I always wanted to be the black equivalent to Hiccup...

Also, dragons make badass pets in general...

Be a dragon, on the assumption that I'll have been a dragon from birth with no knowledge of what being human is like. Flying, breathing fire, eating only grilled food, terrorizing the world, that's the life. Owning a dragon would probably be a drag. You gotta feed it, find space for it, take it out for regular exercise, train it etc.

I was surprised more people didn't want to be a dragon, but I guess it does come with its own hobbles. But I'd still wanna fly around, burninate the countryside, shanghai tech support into getting me some good cable in my cave. Could be it's the primordial side of me, but I relish the concept of hoarding treasure, sleeping in it, touching it-

Maybe I should change my answer to pet.

Assuming I'd retain my mind, I'd spend time happily as a Dohv. It'd be nice to soar above the clouds in solitude and scream through the valleys like a twenty-ton banshee.

I am choosing to believe in this being a D&D dragon, which have shape changing ability which means I could turn human whenever I want. LOOP HOLE!

No, no. It would be like your dog. Only a dragon.
But in that case, being a dragon is a terrible choice as you would be destroying yourself as a sentient being.
I think you are confusing sentience (the ability to sense and feel things) with higher brain function.

If you were the dragon you would still retain your higher brain functions, if you owned the dragon it would be your loyal pet/companion
It can't really work that way.

Either dragons are creature of high intellectual capacity and sentience, and you could be one with no negative effects to your mind, or its 'sub-human,' which means you would no longer be yourself, and would in fact be less then.

If its the first, its immoral to own one. If its the second, then your'd be a moron to choose to destroy yourself.

I pass on this one, Theoretical Genie Man.

And no one every answered my question in your original 'Would You Rather' thread. Poor show all around.

Dude, why are you trying to insert science into this? its just a fun question to ponder. Jeez

Be a dragon.

C'mon, don't they live for thousands of years in some lore? Then there's also the idea of turning into a human etc, which would negate most the problems in the first place, and I haven't seen any rules saying that I can't shape-shift etc.

I went with own a dragon, especially if it was of the Anne McCaffrey type where you're more a bonded pair. But if it was a WoW style dragon, I'd be Nozdormu any day of the week

I think "higher functions" are overrated. To quote the philosopher Dyland Moran:

"The perfect body would be a long tube with my arsehole waaaaaaay, way, over there where I haven't got to deal with it, one eye (because you only really need the one) and a huge pair of lips. Spend your whole time going around looking for pieces of chocolate to fuck."

Base sensations ftw.

Actually, I'm trying to inject some pondering into this question. As it stands, its a poorly thought out question with numerous holes in it. Much like your other question, Where you asked if we would like a phone that was constantly connected to WiFi, with the implied implications that you would have internet everywhere, even though WiFi is not an internet service.

Actually, both questions sound a lot like 'Trick Wish Genie' questions, which makes me question if that was your intent, and you're just having a little joke.

Both options seem bad, unless i'm allowed to sell the damned thing. If not then i might be able to open a zoo of some kind, but i would probably be too broke after a few days of trying to feed it, not that it would come to it since multiple swat teams would be on my ass within an hour of aquiring it. And being one would be a whole lot worse i imagine.

What kind of Dragon?
Dragons in Pathfinder and DnD have the ability to use Polymorph and Invisibility and all that good stuff so I could live in human society fairly easily and only use my dragon powers when needed/stay cocky in knowing that I am a motherfucking dragon.
But Song of Ice and Fire dragons just kind of sit around and kill people and get complained about, not really something I'd like to do.
It would be your generic Western (or Chinese if you prefer) dragon that breaths fire and all that jazz.

You're not introducing anything. I asked a fun little question that people could think about, or just move on. You're taking this way too seriously, saying that there are loops in the question, saying that it can't work because 'science' (even though it involves mythical creatures). The question is a joke more than anything, and you're blowing it way out of proportion and labelling it as common sense. There is no common sense in the question, there is no science in the question. If there are loops, that's fine by me. Answer the question or move on, and stop trying to look for logic where there is none.

Be a dragon, but be able to shapeshift at will back to human form, just like the dragon aspects in World of Warcraft.

Own one.
It'll be difficult taking care of him/her because you know food and everything but I'll ride it into battle with pride if I have to.
