It happened to the Courier in Fallout New Vegas, and she turned out okay.
I do believe you mean "he" :p

OT: I'd never agree to get a lobotomy. Death all the way, baby!

Do I?

My Courier was female. The game's more interesting as a woman.

Thoughtcrime is death, either way? If faced with a choice between dying as a person, but letting my body live on with a radically altered personality; or dying properly and bringing my body with me to a physical grave, I prefer the latter fate.

Nerve stapling, anyone?

Death before Lobotomy! And just because I was confused by that wikipedia article[sub]wikipedia articles for science and health just confuse the hell out of me[/sub]what do you actually lose when you get lobotomised?
You lose most of your ability to think critically, not correctly expressing emotion, and you would no longer have correct social behavior.
Possibly...depends what part/s of the brain they fuck with.

It's generally not what you'd call good, but there are degrees of bad.

A metal institution? Sounds awesome. Makes me think of this. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGHsxMqpL0c&ob=av2e]

I'd rather die I think, knowing what you actually meant.

How so? As far as I know the only things that change are the gender interaction perks.

I'd rather die, because there's a chance I wouldn't actually be myself after the procedure, so that's pretty much like dying.

I'd take the lobotomy. Frankly, I think it would be a release. It would destroy the feelings of physical attraction that have plagued and haunted me for years, and which make me feel nothing but pain and horror.
You know you can get pornography on the internet, right?

OT: I don't care. I imagine that if I were to get a lobotomy I would lack the cognitive ability to mourn my losses, so I don't see the problem. Having said that, I'd rather die. Hell, I'd rather die than live a non-lobotomised life. I just want out.

Completely destroying the Legion using a a gender they consider weak and not fit for anything more than making babies is so very delicious.

Plus I prefer the few gender differences in the dialogue.

Has someone just watched Sucker Punch?

Actually, on that note, I still don't quite understand what happened in that film...

I don't understand the Wikipedia article all that well, but I can't see that lobotomy would be worse than death. I'm surprised so many people have opted for the latter.

A complete frontal lobe lobotomy? You're giving me the choice between death and death, with one just being a massive burden for my family. Once you're frontal lobe is disconnected there is no you. You're concious, but since you're temporal lobes don't do anything , you have no short term memory (and I mean, non, you couldn't do anything independently), you have no drive to do anything (you will let yourself dehydrate to death), you have no free will, you are personality devoid, you have no past, no future, and the present is perpetual avolition, anhedonia and without value. It's no existence, it's always better to choose death.

Of course, you don't necessarily have to have your entire frontal lobe disconnected, but I just assume this is what they're going to do, when faced with such a stark choice. The other forms are not really much use in this kind of scenario, they're too unpredictable to produce a personality change that's directed.

So yeah, death. There would be nothing left to live for.

Death. No questions.

Lobotomy would be same, with death, at least I could donate my organs and help the world somehow.

Option 3: Lunge at the nearest guard in a last desperate attempt to fight my way out. (or at least take as many of them out as I possibly can. GTFO of my brain.)

I'd probably go with the lobotomy.

No matter what kind of brain power I have, I'm still pretty sure the fear of death will always be there. So I wanna do just about whatever I can to live.

Exactly this. Should I ever be lobotomized, I wish to be suffocated with a pillow by a large Indian man.
