I used to like the PS controllers with out question but after seeing the wear an tear on my DS3 like, loose triggers R2 and L2, x button permanently pressed in, something rattling around inside(matter of fact all my PS controllers have something rattling around inside wtf). My 360 controller has the same amount of wear and tear if not more and it almost like brand new still (aside from the worn away rubber rivets on the analog).

360 controller wins this generation, especially for the FPS genre.

Not really, but I'm not a fan of the left stick's location or the typical large X-Box controller. Even the smaller ones still feel a bit unwieldly, but I suppose having started with the PSOne I'm spoiled like that. I do own all 3 consoles by the way (Well technically I only own two, the other belongs to my roommate) and do play all 3 so it isn't like I haven't tried. I do think the undertriggers work great for FPS games though, but not for 3rd person types like Resident Evil.

I have said Sony should redesign their controller for years. Anyone with small hands who likes to play shooters will feel PAIN! I think they should copy the old Dreamcast controller design. It failed so no one would mind no?

No, but I'd do it the other way around (nehmememem, innuendo).

I grew up with the PS controlers and I find them pretty much perfect for me. I always get cramps on the 360 controler for whatever reason.

Besides, to anyone who says that Sony should change the controller design, remember the atrocious Boomerang Controller? [http://ui28.gamespot.com/2011/editboomerang.jpg] Yeah, I don't think Sony is going to try to change the controler any time soon.

I own the 360, but have played my mate's PS3 and found the controller to feel very flimsy to me. I'm probably wrong, but it feels nearly toy-like.

I find the PS3 controller unplayable. I haven't tried sixaxis though but I doubt that makes much of a difference.

Hell, medical experts want to classify cramps and aches from the PS controllers (which mind you doesn't happen on Xbox) a medical condition. Like Playstationitis or something like that.

I just find Xbox controllers to be made to fit human hands, as opposed to robots.
Gah, I hate misinformed people. I bet you watch Fox News, don't you?

They only named it "Playstation Palm" because it was alliterative and catchy. It's used to describe any hand condition from controller use. Fucking sensationalists.

I would, primarily for comfort. I wouldn't say I have massive hands, but for whatever reason, a PS3(and 2 really) controller ends up making my hands tighthen up and is uncomfortable for extended periods of play. The PS one was perfectly fine for me, but I was also 12 when I was using that comfortably, and wonder how it would be now.

I've never run into the same problem with any Xbox controller, though will absolutely agree the D-pad is not great.

No. I don't like the 360's controller. If we could replace it with the GC controller then I would say yes.
That's an even odder choice. The only thing weirder would be a NES pad, or even an Atari 2600 joystick.

I like the PS3 controller, the original SIXAXIS is light and easy to shake about, and the d-pad is in a better place (and it's split into 4 buttons, so i don't accidentally nudge it in a different direction like I do with the 360 pad)

EDIT: And a PS3 controller isn't meant to be gripped like a 360 controller, you're meant to hold it loosely in your hands. It's more cradling it than holding it.

Sony will replace their controller with a wiimote in the ps4
yes, because that was a clever comment. Why would they want to though, less buttons and awkward shape, it's not practical for a hardcore gaming console.

The Wiimote has an awkward shape? That's the first I've heard of this. The Wiimote + nunchuk combo is basically the only controller around that works for both the lefties and the right handed folk equally.

And I don't really get the whole magnitude of complaints about the 360 d-pad. It'd be a valid concern if the 360 had a lot of games that were dependent on the d-pad (aside from fighting games), but the only thing that it's getting used for anyway is basically things like weapon switching. The 360 controller is basically the same thing as the Dreamcast controller with an added analog stick.

I have to disagree. I love the Playstation controller, hell I have since I have my original PS. I've even bought a USB Playstaion-clone contollers so I could play emulated games on my PC. But the Xbox360 controllers is really annoying. The D-pad sucks and is put in the wrong place, it is very uncomfortable to rest your fingers on both the bumpers and the triggers. Maybe the problem is that you have only used an Xbox controller and a PS controllers? I've never gotten a cramp for a PS controllers, but I have many times from my GBA and NES. I don't have giant hands, so I don't need a oversided controller that looks like Microsfot couldn't decied if they wanted to rip off Sony's controller or Nintendo 64's controller, and couldn't agree so they came to compromise. Plus the PS controller is good for me, because I smoke, and I can't hold that clumsy Xbox controller and smoke a cigarrete at the same time. The only thing that an Xbox360 controller looks good for is a boomerang.
My complaint is not lodged at the comfort of the controller per se - it's simply a matter of ergonomics. The analog sticks are incredibly sensitive making precise movements difficult at best. Their placement, though giving me easy access to the D Pad makes it somewhat unwieldy. The shoulder buttons too are somewhat awkwardly placed as well.

It may well be that my entire issue is based around the simple fact that I have not routinely used a Play Station controller in years (the last PS game I played was Okami a few years back and it had been years since I picked up a game for the system). I tend to agree with a few of the assessments that have been offered. It seems that the 360 controller is just natively better adapted (in my opinion) to the FPS. Luckily, Killzone 2 is the only PS3 exclusive shooter I have to worry about, so perhaps I will find that the control is perfectly suitable in other platform exclusives.

Having only recently purchased a PS3, I find myself wildly annoyed at the controller. To be fair, I've never really liked the Play Station style of controller - the analog sticks are too spongy and close together, the buttons (especially the shoulder buttons) inconviently located and the whole assembly is just a bit too small. Having thus far only played Killzone 2, I've found that my my only sustainable gripes about the game lie in the fact that I simply do not care for the controller.

That said, according to the internet it is entirely possible to force the PS3 to accept a wired Xbox 360 controller. While it may be heresy to suggest, it seems as though this would provide the best solution to my problem as I adore the Xbox controller. Having never tested the concept myself, I have no idea just how well it would work, and knowing that the at least some PS3 games make use of the motion sensing capabilities of the PS3 controller makes me wonder if it's really even possible to make it happen.

But assuming that somehow, it magically worked correctly, the question to the PS3 owners is simply this: would you use a 360 controller on the PS3 given the chance?
I see no problem with the controlles

i have both systems and adapted to both controllers in a very short time

My only things bad to say about the PS3 controller is

It is Kinda small
Needs to be more reinforced

and thats it and a few quick notes i prefer the anolog sticks to be close together it and on the same level and yes the shoulder buttoons are bad but after a while they feel fine

so all in all both controllers can have you playing for hours and still let you nail a headshot

all it takes is some simple getting used to (And yes i do think the 360 D-pad is Horrible)

I think the GC controller is way better than any other controller from this generation.

Yes, if only because of L2 and R2. I preferred those as buttons on the PS2, now they feel like marshmallows more than triggers, making me hold the controller in a different way than the PS2 days.

If it ain't broken, fix it 'til it is.
