not a chance in hell. The 360 controller is terrible for retro gaming and the ABXY buttons are less responsive.

Besides, the 360 controller wishes it was a Dreamcast controller with an extra analog stick.

Hmm, I'm surprised by the results, I though everyone preferred the PS controller. I prefer Xbox myself, I even liked "The Duke".

I'm starting to think that polls of this nature are only useful if we can gather additional types of data, such as "genres played", "systems owned", and "hand size". There may just be a correlation.

The Gamecube controller in my and my friend's opinion (who is with me as I write this) is crap compared to both the 360 and PS3 controllers, and he preferred the Gamecube over anything until he got his Wii and 360
As a GameCube owner, I can understand why your friend felt this way. While FPSs never quite worked with a GC controller, I couldn't imagine Super Smash Bros. Melee, F-Zero GX, or Star Wars Rogue Leader handling particularly well with a 360 controller. Those games were too well designed around the hardware specifics. (I Brawl with the GC controller, btw).

I really do think that it's all about what you get used to. During the PS2 and PlayStation days, the consensus was that the dualshock was the king of console controllers. That answer probably has a high correlation with install base. Think about it.
That is a fair point actually, but I still don't think that the GC pad was as good as the PS/Xbox pads still. Although, I do prefer the GC pads to Wii-motes alot of the time aswell.

I've got a friend who's a really stupid 360 fanboy. When I took my PS3 to another mate's house and he came along, he held the SIXAXIS and cried saying 'It's not natural!' He also tried to beat me in console arguments which is better, when my argument is that they're both as good as each other.

The controller that the PS3 comes with is horrible but the Dualshock 3 is fine. I wouldn't risk damaging your PS3 by modding it yourself, those things are still way to expensive to try that stuff.

Never. Ever. Ever Ever. I love my PS3 controller, more than a keyboard, maybe a little bit more than a dreamcast controller, and a WHOLE lot more than a bloody xbox 360 controller. My first controller ever was a N64 controller, and then a Playstation controller, then Dreamcast, then PS2, then Xbox and now the PS3 controller.

I like having everything i need right there and neatly aligned and close together so I don't waste effort, as small as it may be. I just find the 360 controllers to be a bit...well, crap. I also prefer the arrows being seperate buttons. I could care less about the ergonomic design or that it's lighter than the old one, PS3 controllers will always be my number one.

EDIT: Admittedly though, six axis doesn't do anything for me, I only use it when im messing around with the Loading screen in Killzone 2 online.

No. I don't like the 360's controller. If we could replace it with the GC controller then I would say yes.
That's an even odder choice. The only thing weirder would be a NES pad, or even an Atari 2600 joystick.

I like the PS3 controller, the original SIXAXIS is light and easy to shake about, and the d-pad is in a better place (and it's split into 4 buttons, so i don't accidentally nudge it in a different direction like I do with the 360 pad)

EDIT: And a PS3 controller isn't meant to be gripped like a 360 controller, you're meant to hold it loosely in your hands. It's more cradling it than holding it.
I think the GC controller is way better than any other controller from this generation.
I said before and I'll say again. I think the Gamecube controller (specifically the Wavebird as it was wireless) is the best designed controller. I think people who don't agree with that must have had little experience with it. I would use this for all my consoles if I could (with a second 'Z' button on the left shoulder I probably could).

Personally, I can understand people with larger hands prefering the Xbox controller - I couldn't use it though as it was like the size of a Megadrive.

My hands get crampy from the 360 pad so I wouldn't change what I've got.

Megacherv is right about craddling the Dualshock though, it's a skill peripheral.

I would like it if my PS3 controller were a smidge larger, like the Xbox controllers, the d-pad actually made to not shred my thumb during intense Street Fighter action (it needs to be less sharp and a D-pad that's "connected" rather than 4 seperate buttons, if you know what I mean).

As well, the triggers need to be placed further down the grip for the rear ones (think Dreamcast for trigger placement), but you can still keep the other two on the top. The analog rear ones are poor. I do not like them at all for playing games, as the spongy feel fights your finger, rather than helping you play the game.

The actual analogs are better placed on the PS controller in my opinion just for the fact they are where your thumbs normally rest, although a little more space between them wouldn't be bad, as well as a small size reduction overall.

The buttons are better on the PS as well, with the overall texture working better. The smooth glassy feel to the XBox ones means I "loose my place" a lot quicker, if that makes sense, although that may be more of a symptom of being used to the PS controller's setup.

I like the actual grips of the x-box controller. It is much more comfortable to hold, as long as you aren't using both analogs, which makes you twist one hand off the grip slightly for an improper feel to holding the controller.

I will say that I like the slightly weightier Dual Shocks over the ultra-light regular 6-axis. the others feel like nothing is held in my hands and is more a distraction than anything.

Overall, I'd like them to actually think a bit more when designing the PS4 controller, rather tahn making it exactly like the old ones.

No, I wouldn't. The controls are fine as they are. The d-pad is far better than the 360 pad. And I hated the old xbox pad. The buttons on the ps3 controller are far better spaced out for most games. But that's just personal preference.

The triggers are lankier and curved on the 360's pad, while the PS3's feel smaller and rounded outwards. I was fine Dualshock 2 because they were buttons, but the conversion to triggers seems a poor choice to me.

R1 and L1 buttons have to be pressed in, while LB and RB just need a slight tap to go off, a double edged sword maybe, but very handy once you play for a while.

The Thumbsticks are too close together, and for anyone with larger thumbs, may find themselves crossing fingers repeatedly, they are also rounded off so your thumbs may slip from time to time. Unlike the 360's which are further apart and have indents.

The D-Pad on the Dualshock 3 definetly has it the best, with 4 clearly defined button instead of a circle pad with a + on it. Dualshock 3 has it beat.

The 4 buttons. 360 has the upper hand with the hugely outward rounded buttons ABXY compared to the smoother easily negligible buttons of X Triangle Circle and Square.

Weight and Feel. 360 has the upper hand with it's larger heavier pad. The Ps3 pad is almost weightless, so with your fingers bending in all sorts of ways with no real weight for your muscles to work out on. Cramps come hard and fast. The 360 allows for more weight, to get your fingers positioned more naturally for you, with their larger curved pad. (A good test for this would be to get 2 equally sized balls, one made of foam, the other made of leather. Then test which feels better to hold. Obviously the Leather one as it's more defined and heavy.) Your fingers are allowed to curl inwards and not have to worry about pressing your forefingers against the back of the pad and leaving them outwards facing.

360 definetly.
