So between his appearances in tv shows like Justice League Unlimited and the Injustice video games, would you say that Aquaman's crappy reputation form Superfriends has been salvaged?

I think that while the JL:U Aquaman was cool, the charge to make him uber badass has made him lamer then the Superfriends ever did.

The least lame and best versions of Aquaman embrace how embarassing the old one was, not run from it into the deepest, edgiest shadow they can find.

THAT Aquaman is cool.

Aquaman will always be lame. And having his recent appearances try to make him look cool makes him even lamer.

No, and it never will be, he was always a punching bag and a punching bag he will remain. If anything it only makes it worse that they keep trying to make him more powerful, because that's what DC Comics needs after all, more world juggling gods.
By making him the Superman of the Sea, all they've done is make him a boring punching bag.

You know he was only the punching bag in Superfriends right

Superfriends came out in 1973, and his status as a punching bag has persisted into 2016.
His status as a punching bag is older than most people on this site.

Turning him in to Superman of the Sea, has just traded what we mock about him for something else. I think DC's idea of character development just means 'make them God-like'.

He's a lovable kind of lame though. He's like the Plan 9 from Outer Space of Super Heroes. And all the attempts at making him look badass nowadays is like a four year old wearing daddy's shoes and going "I'm an adult now." Cunning disguise, but not fooling anyone.

I mean, hell, as big of a joke as he's been, at least his powers are kinda cool. He's nowhere near say, Wondertwins level.

Ehhh, I only thought he was lame when they were trying to push the 'maximum Edgelord' variants on us. I've always liked him as the less-serious (but still powerful) side of the Justice League, he really works well there alongside the Flash.

Plus Batman: The Brave and the Bold had him as a wonderful counterpart to Batman, which made him really helped dial up his charm.

Uh, hello?

I'd say if nothing else they found a way to translate Aquaman to something that would be well received by the fickle cinematic audience. Genuinely can't wait for this.

My only real exposure to Aquaman was that one time he drove a semi-truck-aquarium around the city...

Superman if the Sea is really an exaggeration. There are still others more powerful than him in numerous other stories.
