Wait, no hitler means no rocket powered flight, so no space exploration, no sattelites, etc.
Also no jet planes, no color TV, no internet...

Think about it, the technological impact alone would reshape the world. All this assuming the war would never have happened.

Now there's the possibility that someone else would just have taken his place, and instead of a 5 year war we'd have gotten a much longer war, with years of stalemate in between conflicts, due to some better tactical insights on hitler's replacement.

So hell no, don't mess with time, never mess with time. Except if you're the doctor

Well, for the sheer slaughter of millions of innocent people, I guess so..

But for the war, no.

Just try to forget the horrible stuff that Germany did to the people they subjected and instead look at the war.

Yes, it was horrible, and so are all wars. But WW2 brought forth a multitude of technological achievements that can be used for good!

......... And, if you want to look at the very dark side of the history that never occurred.... Without Nazi-Germany it is most likely that Soviet-Russia would have attacked eastern Europe around 1942.

What would the world look like then?

Again, the senseless slaughter of innocent civilians: No go!

Well, it seems like this topic has more or less proven what I had hoped.

I had hoped, while making this, that most people would realize that messing with time is a very, very bad idea, even ignoring the possible "you don't exist" thing.

See, science fiction is good for something after all.

Remember, time travel is a VERY complicated business. Killing Hitler would have DRASTIC effects on the future, in ways you couldn't possibly know.
Indeed. Our technology would be further back and the world would be even more over populated than what it is now. I would not go back to kill Hitler.

Hell no. Going back in time and changing even a minuscule detail could vastly change the future in ways you can't even imagine, and Hitler no doubt helped to shape the world as we know it. While we all wish he could have died a lot more violently, I'm content that he is now become the butt of all jokes.

No, but not for the reasons others mention. I'd never time travel if it was possible to before my sisters birth (after mine). When you consider the slightest change in timing and angle in conception (eww gross) could result in a completely different person being born than my sister or I. In fact I'd only use time travel to go back into the past, to make investments and other stuff that I can only access from the future, so hopefully it doesn't change anything that happened to me.

Why Hitler? The guy is ancient history. Someone from the last twenty years would be a better target. At least they're still relevant. How about going back to 2000 and killing Bush or Bin Laden instead?

Honestly, no. If Hitler died, someone else would take his place, and those mistakes that Hitler made might of never happened, and Nazi Germany could have won.
fun fact, there already is a game that plays with this idea

you kill Hitler, someone else takes his place and then takes over the damn world

OT: no, I wouldn't

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't exist if it wasn't for events of World War 2 that cause two of my grandparents to meet, and I can think of many other people I meet who would also likely not be here. This is my time, it's only rational I'd defend my own existence. What possible reason could you give me to go against that?

Of course not ... Allies won. Killing Hitler might mean someone else takes power and beats the allies whilst being equally bad or worse than Hitler.

Why would I possibly endanger the future?

As the real answer:
I wouldn't. I'd just win in the lottery or gamble and bet my way to easy living.

As the boring answer:
Thinking of the consequences of time travel is just way too complex to ponder. Even going back a second could have catastrophic effects, so I'm not getting into that at all. And I don't think time travel will ever become possible.

War Front: Turning Point for PC

though I don't remember if it was that a time travelling assassin kills him or someone else does

I may be wrong, but the thing is that Hitler gets killed and someone else takes his place, making shit get even more serious

though it's quite awesome, see, it implies World War 2 being fought with fucking mechs and giant robots

No. He was essential to human history and (speaking from an American's view), WWII pulled us out of the Great Depression (along with FDR's programs). And lead to help lead a women's movement that showed they could be as good as men (Rosie the Riveter). So before you say thats evil and egotistical for my country, remember that by saying so, you dont think that women should have had the rights they were getting and the help the movement gave, cause no other action in human history would have given them the opportunity.

though... If you did, before he go to power (him as a baby) you may have been able to curb Communism. Though I dont think thats a really equalizing plus.

Nope, the only real reason Germany lost was because of the I AM RIGHT, I'M FUCKING GOD, MY REICH WILL LAST 1000 YEARS JEWS AND COMMUNISTS MUST ALL DIE, THE SLAVS WILL BE OUR SLAVES, PURE AYRAN RACE! mentality the Austrain nutcase had. He killed anyone giving him advice other than "Good plan mien furhur" and made the worse battle plans (albiet Blitzkrieg but that doesn't work against a prepared enemy) that most dictators do.

If anything I'd kill Hienrich Himmler, the man who created to the solution of the Jewish problem, the Nazi Death Camps. He also was head of the secret police (or Gestapo) and was Hitlers right hand man. If Himmler was out of the picture the Nazi's would still be using inefficent methods (firing squads and such) to kill Jews, it would still be a massacare but not on the scale it was. I also doubt Hitler would get replaced by Himmlers replacement because the asshole was a fucking paranoid and delusional fucktard.

Killing Hitler would also do nothing to slow down or damage the Nazi war machine, it could only benifit it because the prick made such terrible strategies. Hitler proved what could happen if you push a country around for too long, Hitler gave his people hope and gave the rest of the world the finger on their behalf. He rebuilt their economy after the high taxes the Allies made Germany pay and took back their original lands. Nazi Germany needed to happen, or it would be something else. History shows us that unstable countries like 20th century Germany are most likely to become dictatorships.

He could have won. He shouldnt have fucked with Russia. Originally they had an agreement of neutrality. The Europeans and American Allies would have never made past France. Especially with Japan mucking up the Pacific and cruising through China.
