The title says it all.
I recently discovered one of my games broken. the disk was still in considerably good condition besides a few finger prints.
I was surprisingly tempted to trade in the game for a deal or something along the lines of that at a nearby game shop but I passed off these thoughts due to how douchy doing it would be (in my opinion, no offense to anyone).
Regardless, I still remained fixated on the thought.
What would you do in a similar situation?
Note: Please answer truthfully and reframe from trolling anyone whose opinion differs to that of yours. Thank you. :p

I have never traded in a broken [i/]game[/i], but I have traded in a controller that was barley functional. The analog sticks were very loose and the left one would randomly activate upwards.

No, I would not trade in my broken games. I think of the "Golden Rule" in this situation. I would not someone to trade in a broken game that I would buy, so I would not do the same.

I have always been too guilty to trade in a broken game...it makes me feel bad. So I have a ceremony and burn them. Send them out with a bang, you know?

yeah, I guess I might... because even if someone is disappointed the game they bought used was broken and returned it, the shop should take it off shelves then... meaning I get money and the game gets trashed or repaired

edit: I have recieved broken games and had to return them, so I have been a victim, but thats why I dont think its so bad cause I didnt have to do much other than tell the employee it was bought broken and they gimme the money back

Don't do it, cause I'll end up buying it and be forced to hunt you down.

Seriously though I'm a bit pissed at the moment because I just bought a game that turned out to be a pirate copy with no data on the disk.

to gamestop yes, they have warranties so if it doesn't work take it back and you get another version.

now i feel bad about it not working for someone, of course, but it gets money in my pocket away from gamestop and the person who buys the unfortunate thing gets a garunteed warranty for a different/new version of it.

so there isn't too much guilt there. besides the person making the trip there and back.

I would, but only if I got something in return, which is still iffy, since I'm very narrow minded about the games I want.

I've hardly ever had a defected game, so I've never done it.

Does Modern Warfare 2 count? If so, yes, yes I would.

But I don't think I've ever had one of my disks break.

No- I somehow keep entertaining the idea that the right resurfacer/cleaner will bring the game back to life. Either that or I get a weird attachment to the non-functional piece of junk and try to come up was to repurpose it. I still intend to turn that broken Atari 2600 in my closet into a desk organizer one day...

Depends if it can be repaired or not.

*reference to the Tales of a Gamestop employee article*

Hold up your disc to the light.

If you can see the tiniest bit of light through it, throw it away, it can't be saved.

If you can, then it can be repaired to working condition.
