I have neither beauty nor intelligence.

But if I was intelligent I wouldn't trade it to be more attractive no. I think anyone who bases anything on looks is quite sad.

I have many highly intelligent friends who are miserable.

I know many pretty people who appear to be quite happy.

Time to flip a coin...

Hmmm I smell Dorothian Grey.
For one looks fade away, they go, taken with with the winds of time.
Intelligence never goes, so I will keep that.

Why should I choose one when I already have both? Harharhar. /endbadjoke

My intelligence is really nothing to brag about, neither are my looks. They're both fairly average. However, if I had a choice between the two I'd take intelligence.

I'd much rather be smart than pretty; the concept of beauty is nowhere near as important as the concept of intelligence.

I'm curious who the hell picked the "yes" option and value looks over intelligence because, if that's you, then you need to turn in your nerd-card. Please, tell me you were joking or that it was an accident because, if not, then I pity you and your poor, narrow mind.

I have reasoned that life is easier if you're stupid. You never have to worry about the philosophical part of life, death and the universe.
So yes. I would gladly trade my intelligence for attractiveness.

I pride myself on my physics, I would rather be shot several times in the intestines than trade my intelligence.

I've seen the attractive people who are dumb as rocks.
No.
I will never degrade myself to that level.

Doubtful. Being attractive isn't exactly useful. I mean, sure, it's nice and may lead to paths that wouldn't normally be available, but it isn't skillful. Perhaps if you'd asked if I'd sacrifice intelligence for the ability to play guitar like Steve Vai or to be an awesome stunt driver, I'd consider it. If it isn't inherently fun or isn't totally awesome, my brains are staying right where they are, thank you very much.

well being less intelligent may help me not over-thinking every situation. but i still am not sure if i want to loose some of my intelligence since it is big part of who i am

Why do I have to politely decline? Why can't I bonk the offering person on the head and exclaim 'that's a stupid idea!'

I would consider it, but since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, i would end up not doing it. I mean, im not the smartest or most attractive person anyway but with time comes knowledge and you can change your looks to suit your own and others needs anyway, so why not have both? If i wanted to be more attractive i could potentially dye my hair or wear different makeup or something, and if i wanted to be smarter i could pick up a textbook and learn everything in it.

If you believe you are intelligent, yet you are unable to fit in society with basic hygiene, fashion sense, and social grace, then you aren't as intelligent as you might think.

Real intelligent people are, in average, more attractive that type-ideals of both. It's not a sum-zero game: intelligent people will understand that by being attractive more venues open to them, and they'll strive to work on it and improve their status.

To me, a nerd isn't intelligent. It's a social dweeb obsessed with a given subject that none gives a shit about, to the point of isolating himself or herself to escape the fact that he or she cannot cope with reality.

Got both,
Why only have one or the other?

I dyed my hair blue and its totally awesome, though I did it for kicks, not to make myself look better

I'd trade most anything for some more self esteem - there's little point being attractive or "intelligent" without the self worth to back it up.

Because people deeming themselves "intelligent" feel usually repressed or attacked, or have been bullied or ignored, because of it. One way to cope with it is to create this fantasy that somehow being intelligent makes them superior or misunderstood so that don't feel like losers, and that all attractive people are the stupid "Jersey Shore" or "Tool Academy" jock that aren't real.
