This pretty much sums it up for me.

"I don't do heroin, that shit's bad for ya" - Drugface Dave

This is a quote from a guy I know who has tried every drug in the book. He learned chemistry to understand, make and use drugs in new and creative ways. He is hands down the weirdest man I have ever met.

I certainly wont be inclined to try heroin even if it was legal due to it being life destroyingly addictive. However what i would suggest is to legalize it as a prescribed substance, and here's why;

There has been research and studys carried out (sorry i havnt got a link to any proof for what im going to write about, you'll have to either take my word for it or find it yourself) on heroin addicts and being able to supply them with a free prescribed supply of the drug and able to administer the drug in a safe and sanitised environment.

The results show that heroin addicts who are given plenty of access to the drug in time are able to control their own addiction eventually able to come off the drug.

Another bonus to the control of this substances would be reduced crime where an addict would resort to prostitution or robbery to steal for their £20-a-time addiction the health service can supply the drug cheeply. (around 30p a dose)

Well I tired some marijuana, and it did nothing for me so no, I wouldn't. I don't have an addictive personality, but I still wouldn't risk it because I know a couple of addicts and they're despicable pathetic wrecks. Besides I'm very uncomfortable with the idea of showing a needle into my own arm.

I totally would! Evil music, movies and video games tell me to do it!

In all seriousness, I simply do not know enough about it to do it. I've seen all the ads, movies, etc. bashing it. I have also seen the incredibly inaccurate marijuana propaganda. I just feel like, I know some of the anti-drug propaganda is bullshit. What if all I've been told about heroin (iss bayud, mkay?) is bullshit as well?

But yeah, it's probably my paranoid little mind, confusing me. I haven't tried it. I've been offered it several times, and know people who've tried it less than 10 times. They aren't addicted, never were. We'll see if I change my mind in the future.

Most assuredly not. I've heard and seen (in pictures not in person) scary shit that's involved with Heroin.
Now if pot were legal, I can't say that I wouldn't sample some of that, but Heroin? No, way outta my league.
Plus, I like to avoid needles whenever possible.

No.

Heroin is, as already stated, very addictive, and people have ruined their lives over it and other drugs like it.

Nicotine and alcohol is as far as I'll go.
I'm like this, but I don't even use nicotine or alcohol.

I'm of the rather ignorant[footnote]I do not know much about drugs except for what is 'common knowledge', so I use the term ignorant to mean "From my limited view", not to mean "I'm an idiot, hear my opinion!"[/footnote] opinion that most drugs (except the ones that cause severe damage) should be sold by heavily controlled and monitored stores run by the government so that they can distribute them safely and in appropriate doses, as well as minimising the risk of dangerous additives. However, I also think that the use of drugs should never be accepted by society as a whole, because while slippery slope arguments may normally be balls-stupid, when you are dealing with addictive and dangerous substances, a slippery slope argument is actually rather fitting (such is the nature of addictions).

No, I've been around heroin addicts, I'm not stupid enough to think there is such a thing as a controlled abuse of the drug.
Anyone who does is a fucking fool.

Becoming a heroin addict is signing your life away, as well as your dignity. It is as pathetic as it is pityful.

Let me put it like this; Have you ever seen, or just heard of, someone who starts doing heroin, and then their lives get substantially better all of a sudden?
It doesn't happen, it only gets shittier than it already is. Pointless drug is pointless.

No. Pretty much for the same reasons I don't try smoking. It can clearly be harmful for you and I personally see no benefits.

No. My brother was a Heroine addict and it fucked his life up so I'd rather not potentially end up like him.

You don't try heroin, heroin tries you.

I am very much in favour of free will, but powerful opiates like that rob you of your free will, and just because they are a chemical rather than an oppressive government it is a semantic difference to me. The problem is pleasure-drugs completely hijack your pleasure cortex, to beat it you have to completely subvert this part of your brain and in a way you will never be able to be truly happy again.

People have the freedom to try heroin in the same sense they have the right to support an oppressive extremist government: it kinda defeats the purpose of having freedom. It's a lesser evil to ban and control it as much as possible.

As to the supposedly less addictive drugs like LSD, MDMA and so on. I'd rather not fuck them them, life is complicated enough without drugs altering your brain chemistry.

No. I try to keep my body clean. I avoid caffeine and try not to desensitize my body to painkilling drugs so I don't have to rely on prescription strength stuff for just the small pains like some people I know. So I don't think I'd bother with heroin.
