Possibly, but I think the Dark Side is too automatically vilified. (Yin Yang type thinking would even suggest it would be optimal to embrace both sides in proper moderation)

Yup, if I wouldn've turned to the Dark Side to begin with I totally would for her. It's not like my values are very Light Side to begin with.

I wouldn't have turned. No matter how much you love someone, there are bigger and more important things in the world than yourself and your own life. Being a Jedi is thinking about the world and not yourself.
Not to me. It's not like 'the world' can live my life, feel my feelings, etc. To me I'm the most important thing in the universe, nothing can be me for me.

Option 7:
I'd be all 'Red Mage' and get the best of both worlds so I could outsmart my foe.
Clever :D

Stickin' with the OT: I'd stay on the Light Side. Seems like teaming up with a Sith is a one way trip considering the rule of 2(unless of course you're the one doing the betraying).

Dark Side gets lightning. I'd turn for lightning.
Luke Skywalker eventually was able to use Force Lightning. That's why he was both feared and respected in the Galaxy.

Myself, I claim Grey Side. I'd bounce back and forth so often, it'd be impossible to keep track.

Fuck yeah, I want those dark powers and you can't have emotional ties as a Jedi anyway so FU, I'm off to the cool side.

What I never liked, was how easily Anakin could make the decision to kill a school full of children in a moments notice. That one was a stretch. I can accept the force, its powers, lightsabers and every other technical implausibility, but I'm sorry, I had to roll my eyes at that one.
So, no, I couldn't see myself, or anyone for that matter, able to flip that quickly after decades of training and self control. For fuck's sake, he didn't even explore any options.

Actually, the movies do a shitty job of explaining this, but Anakin was actually pretty crazy. I mean, like to begin with. He NEVER had that self control which is the mark of a good Jedi, and he had in fact comitted murders before that, even as a kid. And, even with all that said, consider the fact that he slaughtered all those Tuskens. "Women and children, too." Tuskens are sentient. He hated them and saw them as wicked, so he killed them all, without regard to gender or age, or helplessness. Same with the Jedi. He turned into a psychopath when faced with a hated enemy. That actually means that that decision on his part fits perfectly with his history and personality.

I dont think she would want me to go to the dark side and I would want to betray my family and friends + my morals and beliefs...because im a good guy with a hell load of weapons.

Why would I got to the bogan side, bogans suck (Bogan = Star Wars Slang to Dark side)

where is the "Other, please elaborate" choice?

i'd say no - but only because i wouldn't turn to the dark side because of some woman i loved (i could think of some GOOD reasons though - but a woman ain't) (i believe the concept of love is overrated; srsly - neuro-chemical imbalance as the bestest thing on this planet? i don't think so. also, friendships /tend to) last longer than romantic relationships, thus friends > lover)

actually, i wouldn't turn to the dark side as depicted in the movies at all; it's the common ooooh-we-are-soooooo-eeeeviiiil evil

i'd go fallen jedi or "grey" side, if you will. they truly are free, and they don't obey a hypocritical code like jedi do. (how can slicing people be light side? also, they always talk about "balance", but they don't really want balance, they want the dark side eradicated; balance means there are several things in equal parts, not one dominating thing; they aren't honest to themselves.) and they don't have to be eeeeviiiiiil and destroy things because they can and it's cool (and eeeeviiiil). ^^

I honestly thought this was about turning in the sense of turning someone gay when I read the title. Family Guy beat me to that joke already, though.

And no. I would not turn to the dark side.

I'd create a morally ambiguous grey side. We would be Jedis for hire and would have all the cool lightening without the murder of magic children.

Thursday is poker night. You're more Han welcome to join.

Values and beliefs sounds far too subjective. Ethics is not a matter of personal taste or point of view.

I could easily go against everything I've said and done in the name of the Order because the Order does not top my list of priorities. My mate and my children would trump any and all mandates by any other body no matter who it is or what it thinks it holds over me. The Order forbade love for reasons that make sense, but it also weakened the Jedi to these issues as that gave another stock of ammunition for the Sith to use to corrupt their more passionate Knights.

I condemn the Jedi for condemning passion, and I condemn the Sith for allowing it to devour them. Either extreme is ultimately self-destructive and blinds you to things that should not be so hard to determine. Anakin knew that Palpatine was the Sith Lord and still went to the chamber when he was telepathically contacted. For all my fears, I would not so easily submit to another's manipulation thinking they are the only way for her to survive. Especially after having him openly reveal to me that he was the one that everyone was looking for. It would become obvious at that point that everything he's said and done to this point were to twist my perception. I would have hated Windu's order to stay at the Temple for the simple fact I felt responsible for cleaning up a mess I should have noticed sooner, but I also would have accepted it for the logical outcome that it was. I'd been close with the Chancellor and would not be able to trust my own train of morals when it came to determining his fate.

Count Dooku certainly seemed like he had the right idea until he became expendable (note to self, bail on master when younger apprentice comes onto the scene). He was portrayed as someone who wasn't really evil, but had enough political differences with the Jedi to feel the need to turn...it was suggested that Qui Gon was shared some of Dooku's views, but chose to try and change the Jedi from within rather than straight up opposition. That's pretty much the path I'd take.

I've often thought that Anakin getting burned was Palpatine's plan all allong. If we take the midi-chlorians are in the bloodstream and that is where the power comes from story, then sensing the "I am more powerful than the Emperor, we can overthrow him" thoughts from Anakin, Palpatine arranges the confrontation between Obiwan and Anakin, knowing that Anakin will be badly hurt but that Kenobi wont bring himself to kill his friend. Palpatine "rescues" Anakin just a bit too late after Anakin has lost his limbs...and a LOT of blood. This should theoretically reduce his power levels while still remaining a valuable asset.

I never understood why the Force was always so black and white in the movies. Why is a Jedi/Sith so morally vulnerable? Don't we all have bouts of extreme hate & anger only to have it subside after you've calmed down?

Frankly, I always thought the idea of a rogue/renegade Jedi to be way cooler. Look at Kyle Katarn, that guy dabbled heavily in the dark side, came back to the light side and was just all around bad-ass. Here's a Jedi running around with a blue lightsaber using Force Grip and Lightning to kill stormtroopers and mercenaries. There was no adhering to a strict, ethical Jedi code. It was just one Jedi doing what was necessary to stop the bad guys.

I figure THAT is what I would do as a Jedi. I'd tackle every problem with a utilitarian approach: the ends justify the means. Sure, I'll be part of the Light side of the Force but I'll sure as hell use Dark side powers to get the job done. So I really wouldn't go to the Dark side of the Force for the love of my life, I'd just try to find a way to cheat my way through it.

So you do one thing against your morals and you become a bad guy for life, it doesn't work that way in real life, so yes, i would do it, depends on what that 'bad thing' would actually be. I never liked star wars so i guess i'm off to look for a nice hole to die.
