Okay, lets face it, the industry has never been coy about ripping off Nintendo, be it the D-Pad, thumb-stick, using a handheld as a second controller, motion controls
and Nintendo has never been coy about taking their control schemes from other places either (D-pad, thumb-stick, touch controls all had origins elsewhere not Nintendo)
As far as I understand, analog flightsticks were available for home consumers as far as the 70s, but the N64 controller had the first analog thumbstick. And the modern ubiquitous "cross" D-Pad was first used in the Donkey Kong handheld.

Look, there's no denying Nintendo is a regular trendsetter. The Kinect and Move came into existence only because of the Wii's popularity.

Sony had thumb sticks in 1996...

...You just had to have really big thumbs! :p

And if I recall (I could be wrong here I never owned one) but didnt the playstation do the whole body tracking/controller thing with their eyetoy in the PS2 era? Though I will give ya the reason it got so popular is because of Wii.

I am not prepared to admit thats a good thing though! -glares at the new Steal Battalion game and grumbles- heh
Oooohhh yeeesss the EyeToy! Completely forgot about that one! Funny how Sony came up with it first, barely used it, then made their own version of the Wiimote (albeit with 3 dimensional tracking), while MS went on to perfect the EyeToy tech with the Kinect. :p

And you call those thumbsticks? I'm betting you still use the original XBox Duke controllers if your thumbs are that massive. ;)

By god I can't believe I'm the first to say this but:

I'd rather they came with a mouse and keyboard. Make the whole inferior PC deal official!

I don't want it. Absolutely not. I predict that it will distract the devs from maybe writing a good story or building an interesting character to force in touchscreen gimmicks. The regular joysticks work absolutely perfectly as a device that connects me to the game.

No need to fix what ain't broke is my opinion.

Fingers get in the way of touch screens and they get fingerprints on them (not to mention the cost they would add to console controllers), bad idea. Now, a touch-pad would be awesome!
Though I do like when a touch screen is used as a menu system as to not clutter up the screen. It also almost eliminates the need for hot-keyed weapons.

I dont like touch screens because I have big manly hairy fingers and in every smarth phone when I try to hit a key I end up hitting 2 or 3, and having to get an stylo out everytime the games has some gimmicky thing that needs the screen is distracting (Im looking at you 3ds) mainly because you have to release the control, take the thing out, use it, then store it again and wait till this happens again, or you can take the stylo and play with that in your hand, If you prefer PAIN

plus as someone comented earlier, the screens gets dirty easily and I dont like my things looking dirty or scratched.

Not really. I mean it is cool what Nintendo is doing with the Wiiu but I don't think the other systems should do the same thing. I like Nintendo being the interesting "gimmicky" system while I like the others being the standard "hardcore" systems (I wish I could think of better words for how to describe them.)

No, as it won't work for every game. I don't need a touch screen playing an FPS; I'd need one playing an RPG.

Nope, I really don't care for new things like motion control or touch screens. I like touch screen on my phone but I'm perfectly happy with traditional controllers.

No. I don't want any stupid, pointless gimmicks to make consoles seem technically savvy. Just give the same controllers that have worked for years, and don't need fixing or changing.
This.

Like Jim said, the whole "look what our thing can do!" attitude is too pervasive, and I don't trust developers/publishers to be sensible with them. I fully expect the WiiU to go the same way as the Wii and PS Vita and just jam all it's features into every game, when it's not needed. So what I want is the same controllers that have always worked, they're fine as they are, especially the 360's controller is great, good weight, great feel and my hands and fingers don't feel strained using it.

Nope. Just give me m+kb support on all console games so that I can play the console exclusive shooters I like without being forced to use a controller.

Well, the 360 already has decent Surface integration, so there's honestly no need for a touch-screen controller (for Microsoft, at least.)

While the whole concept is cool, it's really up to the developers in general on how well they can integrate the UI in a useful manner. You can only go so far without having the player constantly screen looking.
