Do you think that Blizz is going to far with World of Warcraft by adding yet another expansion? Instead of making it a new game entirely. By now, the story of the world is so convoluted, it's practically impossible to follow. With every new expansion comes a whole new set of story archs and changes to previous expansion quests up to the point where Outlands is an actual and current threat to the world whilst at the same time, people are pissing there pants for another current threat that's actually taking place years in the future (Lich King) And now they're expecting new players to follow? I mean, those of us that have been there for years can probably follow easily. But new players are totally screwed.

Should Cataclysm just go beyond being an expansion and become World of Warcraft 2? Or are you satisfied with it cluttering up the game even further?
The story isn't very hard to grasp.

Why bother making a second game?
It's the most popular mmo there is.
Why fix what isn't broken?

I think that during WoW they lost many players that won't ever get back, that could be one reason. Also, the lead designers are getting "bored" :p

Expanding with Blizzard new MMO [http://www.blizzardnewmmo.com] to new environment style by going for Science Fiction could get them several millions of subscribers that would never play WoW and don't think only of the MMO. Blizzard creates franchises not games :p

Why have an MMO if you're not going to constantly put in new content? I may as well play a single-player game.

In other words, hell no. I'm looking forward to Cataclysm more than anything except City of Heroes: Going Rogue.

*anticipatory shiver*

No, they should do their job...if they make a new game, then there is a 100% chance that 20% of the playerbase will not like it and prefer the old WoW, and 3% of that 20% will start playing FPS...just release as many expansions as possible and keep them away from my genre.

MMOs don't require sequels, they require improvements. And no, unless some players share your IQ they shouldn't have any problems following the story. WoW isn't even about the story.

It don't make sense, but fuck it, just play it cause it's fun.
I don't know about Cataclysm, though.
I mean, c'mon, is there at least the Option as to if you want the world to look destroyed?
Dun Morogh, Elwynn forest, and the Tauren Place (forgot name) are pretty, dammit, I don't want to see lava course through them.

Not really, but that's because I don't take Blizzard seriously anymore, as I hope nobody else here does. If they want to ride downhill because that's where Cash Kingdom is, let them. Diable days are over, and that's fine. Gaming Giants, like Politicians lose their edge if they aren't replaced often.

I'm gonna quote myself : "if those expansions keep going like that you'll soon be playing a lvl 115 Murloc Power Ranger whose specialty are dual laser sabers that were made with the new profession Energy Weapons." :D

they are making new games, starcraft 2 and diablo 3, and if you think they are taking longer than usual, you clearly haven't been around long enough to see blizzard's previous release "schedule"

It's not hard to follow several storylines.

But WoW has already ruined itself by neglecting the true fans in order to gain the attention of the mainstreem audience. That is the source of their sucsess and failure.
If by "true fans" who are you talking about exactly?

Cause the large majority of people who play wow are casual players.
Those who have been playing Warcraft since 1 and 2 only to see how Blizzard decided to rape their lore throughout the WoW timeline.
Oh, see you are in the minority now.

Most of the people who play (and pay for the game) are casuals who just play the lower endgame content for fun.

If you look at it from a numbers perspective anyway.
Exactly.

7 million players.
And perhaps something between 100 000 to 1 000 000 were fans of the original Warcraft.
Numbers win, maintards win.

Therefore, I am never supporting blizzard with any new game they may make.

They haven't raped anything. Some stuff has been retconned, but that's happened through WarCraft regardless of it was an MMO or not.
Retconning is one thing.
In WoW's case however, it's raped, destroyed and spitted on.
You're free to disagree with me though, just don't argue it with me.
Uh, if I disagree, I'm definitely going to argue the point with you...

Too far with what? You can't actually expect them to make a game like that and then not try to increase it's lifespan as much as humanly possible.
