WoW never dies. Even if one of these games succesfully slays it, it will simply respawn and exact vengeance.

Star Wars probably won't kill wow, but the popularity of KotOR and Star Wars in general will likely make an MMO that outshines WoW.

WoW cannot be "killed" as such, it was released November 24th 2004, thats over 5 years ago! And it now has 11.5 million paying subscribers.

There are players on there who weren't born when the game was released. If WoW loses its popularity in the next year or two (or three or four) Blizzard can still say that the game had a development cycle sucess that dwarfs any other game in history, WoW will not be Killed, but rather simply Abdicate in favour of a worthy sucessor.

Games come to the end of their playable lives eventually, usually when a sequal comes out, so yes, WoW2, or whatever the next Blizzard MMO is will most likely take its place.

Frankly i am a bigger fan of Guild Wars than i am of WoW, so as far as i am concerned, WoW has already been killed.

Interesting that no one voted for APB. No one thinks a game that's basically a GTA IV MMORPG
will kill WoW?

I think the best chance any game has against WoW is the continuing expansion of WoW. I think with time, WoW will become so big that new players might be turned off by how much catching up they'll have to do and possibly look for a more recent release to get into MMO's. Then again, it's up to the developers to make a game that is worth playing.

Uh, any good game is a WoW killer. : D

And out of those, Star Wars because I think there are more fanboys of that than of WOW.

I don't really think any of those will do it, but I sure wish something to come that will. WoW is mind numbingly boring, but that's just my opinion.

I definitely don't fear change in this regard, it's just competition and that's a very good thing.

Nothing will ever truly 'kill' Warcraft - there's not going to be a point where people just don't play it anymore.

It's not aboot quality, it is aboot the fact that nobody will leave WoW and give up on their hours of grinding just to play a better game.

I think Star Wars: The Old Republic could be good competition for it but not a WoW killer.

WoW is not going anywhere, I'm positive its impossible to "kill it" however I do believe that if made correctly Star Wars or many of the other MMORPGs coming out this year could take a huge chunk of Blizzard Subscriptions away.

There will not be a killer.
It will be suicide when Blizzard starts to fuck around too much with expansion 3005
They already killed it with their first expansion - it's just not what it was anymore.

But out of the options here I'd say Star Wars would topple it since it combines Star Wars and MMORPG - the 2 biggest nerd magnets possible.
It didn't seem to work so well for Galaxies...

Although in all fairness Bioware has at least proven they're slightly more competant than SOE.

Where's "I don't care" option? I used to say that if something kills WoW, it's WoW itself with it's updates that seem to make the game worse. I haven't played WoW more than few hours myself so I don't know if it acutally has gotten worse but that's what I've heard from my friends.

No game ever will kill World of Warcraft. It will die slowly over several years. Wow is a juggernaut, an unstoppable force. The only way such a thing stops is when it runs out of power.
