I dont play anymore, however...

I remember when getting a Mount was like a little personal achievement. Thats how i felt anyway. I hit lvl 40 with my Undead Warrior and I tried so hard to get enough money to buy my first little Red Skeletal Horse. I felt like I was the best when i first mounted-up, spending about an hour cutting laps of the Undercity and Org.

I think WoW has just gotten lazy. I got board once i hit lvl 70 (never played LK so never got 80). Now it just seems all the game is, is end game raiding. Questing and leveling up was what made me play for hours on end. I think alot of this stuff they are adding, is just taking the fun out of the game.

Us Guild Wars players dont get mounts, ever.

We might not get Mounts. But at least we get cut scenes and storylines with ACTUAL Dialogue and relevance.

It's a good idea because then that means faster leveling so people won't get bored as quicky since people quit after the boring 25-30 period.

I don't like it. I feel like an old man yelling at kids how hard I had it back in my day. It took me forever to get to level 40 back when I casually played WOW and even longer to get all the money needed to get training and the mount itself. Now all these whippersnappers only have to get to lvl 20, which can pretty easily be achieved in about a week.

That sounds awesome.

Doesn't help any if you want to ride the mount of another race. Dammit, I just want my Night Elf to ride a horse...

Its blizz spoon feeding new and current players too keep them interested in the game close to its death. I can go on about how its bad for the game but MaxTheReaper summed it up nicely.

Just another casual gamer nerf to please the homogenized horde.

This was made available a few patches ago, at least I know that humans can ride gnome's chickens so I don't see why nelfs wouldn't be able to ride horses. Perhaps its just the rep you need, too tournament dailies you go!

Either buy the black warhorse from the guy in stormwind for badges, no rep needed, or as suggested above do the argent tournament dailies for the Stormwind guy once you are a champion of Darn, shitloads of rep that way.

NElfs could always ride horses. The mounts that were inaccessible were Mechanostriders for Draenei, Humans and NElfs and everything but Kodo, Wolves and PvP mounts(?) for Tauren.

Reputation has always been an issue though.

I have mixed feelings about it. My main complaint is that epic mount training is being reduced from 600g to 50. Blizzard could at least refund gold spent on training. Of course though, I recently hit 80, and this will make leveling my warrior easier. Also harder, because the Alliance players (Whom I will not rant about at this point in time, just know I hate (most) of them.) will be able to catch up to me easier because they have no life and will kill everyone in Hillsbrad when they get an epic mount, and dance around on a pile of corpses with their soiled trousers in their mouths, and because Hillsbrad is one of the only good places to level from 20-30, I'll have to put up with it. Although conveniently, both my warrior and my main (warlock) are in the same guild, conveniently entitled .

Good. One of the main reasons I joined a specific private server was instant mounts. It does not affect combat or missions, it just makes the game less fucking boring. Why the hell would you want people to be bored to tears during the initial part of your game?
I agree. Why should a person be forced to endure forty levels of slow-paced bullshit just so that they can run between capitol cities faster than the speed of fucking molasses? If anything, I think they should just scrap mounts and make run speed faster in the first place; prevents ganking, since little ones are able to run the fuck away without getting hunted down by someone in their +2000% speed mount.

It was the rep gain that held me back (unless they changed it so you don't need Exalted any more; I think I'm at Revered). Hmm...well, I'm not terribly fond of PvP, but if it's faster, I should give it a shot. What badges are you talking about?

Wait...is that use of past tense deliberate? o_O

Main reason I quit WoW was because they kept making it easier and easier for people to level up a character without actually learning how to either play the game or play thier character. This is just another example of my gripe.

Indeed, in a not-too-far gone patch (WotLK. Possibly 3.0.8) all race restrictions were removed from mounts. Taurens on raptors and NElfs on mechanostriders. You do, however, still require Exalted reputation with that city (unless it's your home faction) to access their mounts.

With the Argent Tournament quests (accessible at level 77 in Icecrown), grinding reputation for your home factions and the Argent Crusade (Ebon Blade for Death Knights) is easier than ever before.

i agree when i used to play mounts were a status symbol if you had a epic mount you were admired if you even had a regular mount you were pretty admired. then they changed the min to 30 which made the regular and epic mount feel even more unearned and unprestigious and now 20 and 40 so there is absolutely no prestige in mounts anymore which saddens me because back in classic i was so proud of my epic mount i simply ran around to show it off(which was a black war tiger).
