Countless glitches in Oblivion have yielded me from completing quests.

I got the glitch for the Skingrad recommendation for the Mage's Guild when

you go in the well looking for the ring that's supposed to be on the apprentice's body, but there's nothing there.

Thanks Oblivion, now I can never finish the Mage's guild quest line.
Is Oblivion really worth the price, even if it comes with BioShock (the sorta crap PC version)?
If you get all the official expansion packs taht came out later on you will have hours and hours of gameplay. They also fixed alot of the bugs and glitches with the expansion packs as well. Then you have all the mods to look forward to.

Constantly.

-In Mass Effect 2, during the mission to retrieve the IFF unit I was mid-battle and a glitch caused my entire party to suddenly jump to the ceiling, constrained to a small horizontal area notably very far from anything resembling cover. I promptly died.

-In Fallout 3 I got trapped in my room in Megaton after Fawkes and Dogmeat followed me in when I went to sleep. I couldn't get either of them to move, and trying to kill Fawkes just to get out caused him to brutally murder me (and possibly sodomize my corpse). Even worse, my autosave had kicked in to keep me right there, so I had to load my most recent manual save, losing about two hours of progress. Thanks a lot, Fawkes.

-Several times in Mercenaries 2 I was almost done jacking a tank or copter when a previously-unseen tank or RPG blows me right off the vehicle, dealing massive damage and rendering me a sitting duck for the cheap-shotting dickhead.

-Mirror's Edge had so many situations where the only survivable route was so obscure or hard to see that I would try everything I could think of and still have to go to the internet for a video playthrough which would reveal one very unlikely route I didn't try.

I never did finish oblivion.
I told one of the main quest characters to wait somewhere and forgot where I left him.

Try playing a Civ game on the higher difficulty settings.
Only then will you know what it truly means to be screwed over.

But to be more close to your topic, I once declared war on a smaller nation in Civ4, only to realise that they had a military pact with the 2 strongest nations.

Did not end well.

Ah Oblivion glitches! The only real glitch I actually had was a Vampire glitch. I think the only reason I got the glitch was because I had just read about it.

So when you need the ingredients to the cure, the lady won't recognize the Bloodgrass. So I've been a vampire for about, lemme check, 410 days, or over half my gameplay time.

Should I get the Xbox or PC version?
DEFINITELY PC.

Like seriously, of all the games I shouldn't have bought (and there are TONS of them), Oblivion for the 360 was definitely my worst purchase ever.

However, on the PC, it's awesome. Liberal use of mods makes it one of my favorite games.

Those strategy games are the worst cheaters. I had a game of Lords of Magic once where Death attacked me with 50 Sir Lancelots (my own "unique" unit). I quit right there and never played again.

After my computer died and had to be reformatted, I couldn't(and still can't) reinstall Fallout 3 or Civs. It would get a certain percentage in and give an error, and quit.

Like some of those "naughty mods" the really hardcore nerds love?

Dead Rising:
Me: "Ok, I have to go to class."
Friend: "Really? I'm gonna hop in and play some then"
Me: "That's cool, bro. Just let me save real quick..."
Me: [presses start and scans the menu] "...the fuck?"

I was so PISSED when I got that one.

OP: Fallout 3. A glitch on broken Steel that prevented me from getting past the first quest in that DLC, now I can't blow up the citadel.

Fallout 3 Tenpenny tower. Yeah I did the nice guy everyone wins quest. You know what happens? They kill the people. Yeah! WTF! I want to make it fair for everyone and they go behind my back and do this?!?

Reload last save

I personally take the blackhawk to all of their heads, I didn't care about the negative karma.

Quasi-related example: Fallout 3 saves. After I decided to stop saving obsessively every 10 minutes in Fallout 3 (I had several gigs of saves on my 360), I saved with a burning car right next to Charon. Do I lose 2 hours to save him, or go without a follower? After I learned that Sergeant RL-3 is way better, I just reloaded the save where Charon died and kept going.

There have been several instances of me obsessively reloading to escape a bad situation without casualties in my no-kills run.

Not quite being screwed, but I went through all of Dead Rising without knowing that Disembowel isn't only for zombies.

Did you try looking around on the ground? It's occasionally been lying around on the ground or floating at the top.

On Oblivion I have a follower (can't remember which one, but i can't get him to leave me! And now he has been through so many battles with me that all his equipment is broken, leaving me with a naked traveling companion who attacks me every time I break the law!!

Didn't becoming a vampire in Oblivion turn your Redguard into a very white guy with no eyebrows?
