Funny, about 80% of the posts above me sound like they've never played MAG, and therefore have very little idea of what it actually is. The game is actually quite different from what the slogan of 256 player online FPS might suggest.

Except that the max number of players you can hear on a given channel is 8. Half of those 256 players aren't even on your side! If anything, this game should come packed with a mic. The fundamental weakness of MAG is that if you don't have a mic, you're playing in an endless cycle of giant team deathmatches. It is quite incredible how four friends with mics can easily take over a match if both teams are uncoordinated, especially on defense.

I actually think that once you hop over the technological limitations, it might work better on the X360 (assuming that it is possible to hop over those said limitations). The lag should be no problem, you just need to invest in a good server system and not the crappy systems that MW2 employs. If the X360 can't handle the processing necessary, just scale down a bunch of stuff without killing the basic gameplay. People always tell me that graphics aren't that important (I generally disagree), so a downgrade there should be fine. The X360 has what many consider a superior online system in the XBL. With most of the player base equipped with mics, and the advantages of a better Friends system on the XBL, I think that a MAG style game would perform better on the X360.

As for the concerns of it being a clusterf*ck, I can tell you right now that it's not a clusterf*ck. In fact, as a gamer who has experienced real clusterf*cks (from the heydays of Planetside), I can confidently say that MAG comes nowhere close to being a clusterf*ck. Only way for MAG to become a clusterf*ck is for all 256 players to chase after one objective, and that never happens.
It could also be a clusterf*ck if there was a free for all mode. Also, you're absolutely right about the mic thing, a squad with no mics accomplishes nothing and the squad that does always ends up on top. A mag like game would be more suitable for the xbox simply because everyone has a mic. Although I don't think it would be as good, just a personal opinion. But with something like this: http://kotaku.com/5454121/mag-makers-call-xbox-live-more-juvenile-than-psn dont extpect anything similar too soon, especially since their are enough fps's out there so satisfy everyone.

360 doesn't have the power like PS3, it would be immpossible, maybe next gen.
How exactly do you know this? I mean, dear lord.. we all know that the Playstation 3 has superior hardware capabilities but that doesn't always mean a superior game. The capability is there but many times over it has proven to have not been used to full potential.

But the better portion of this topic, is the amount of people who are ignorant as to how MAG works and how a game would be developed based around this concept. It's a great day when people start to become cynical about something that isn't likely to exist.
Here you go:

Too many people have mics on the 360, and therefore you hear far too many retards talking during online multiplayer - can you IMAGINE the chaos that would ensue with 256 people?
You only hear about 10 guys, your in squads that break up the 256, you can only talk to other squads if your the squad leader, and even then its just to other leaders, not that bad of a headache.

I say no..that would just mean there's 256 douchebags online at the same time like with any massive multiplayer game doesn't matter what system the game is for.

It would be great if there were no exclusives. However, having played the beta of MAG I can say you're not missing much, you hardly ever see all the 256 players, it's like COD but with worse gameplay.

Not always, specially when dealing with games like MW2 and Halo, see since one person is host, everyone internet is depended upon him, even though the server tries to pick the best, sometimes it fucks up, and when this happens you get game wide lag. I've spent a lot of time working out how the whole lag thing works, because my friends always claim mine sucks, however I could download things much faster than them and I would usually be server, and I wouldn't experience the lag. Turns it was just them, but I still had to site proof, and they had a point, in MW2 and Halo, you can sometimes blame the host. Usually the game disconnects or selects someone else before the lag gets real troublesome, but like anything, some situations slip through.

Thanks guy, you're the second one in this forum to tell me this :)

Although, to be fair, he didn't mention how many people were in your squad, so now I have an even greater grasp of the concept that this game really wouldn't be much worse than any other online shooter on XBL. So, and I mean this in all sincerity, thanks for the info! I think this calls for a picture

no, it can't happen.
when i play MW2 on my 360, it lags A LOT, and that is with like 20 people
this is just my opinion, but all of my friends who only have 360 think that teamwork is a stupid idea, and they refuse to believe that MAG doesn't lag
hmm must be your connection, my 360 never lags? if it is its just the constant game lag, but i haven't played mag and dont have an interest in it...is it fps or tps? and is it realistic or more like halo ish?

too lazy to look or care
This

um, 1/2 of that is that the host of the games in CoD are players, which means they have relatively garbo bandwidth compared to actual servers
a dedicated server system can and in this case does handle a LOT more players.
domestic connections seem to mainly work only up to 16 players, maybe 18, but not for many.
i'd say connections are on average better in MAG than MW2 outside of the US.
there is a reason PC gamers got mad at IW for ditching dedicated servers.

Okay, I'll swap you heavenly sword and mag for crackdown and Mass effect. Not to make them exclusive, but to start making them cross platform.

I very much doubt hardware has anything to do with it all the calaculations would be done server side

Actually I would rather see MAG appear on the 360 so 128 Xbots could face another 128 Sony fanbois on the virtual battlefield a proper console war.

Yea, that's just what we need. A game that allows 27 different 13 year olds to scream into your ear instead of the standard 5. Sounds like a super duper plan.

On a more serious note, I find it hard to believe that MAG isn't going to be laggy as fuck. Just a hunch I have.
Well amazingly MAG has not lagged for me at all and the only time it did was when my friends internet dropped (I was playing at his house) That and I only heard one little kid so far and this again amazed me because he wasn't being annoying as hell.

However playing online with the ps3 and playing with the 360 I have heard a lot more little kids on the 360 so from what I have seen it would be more annoying.

Did with Shadowrun, such an under rated game.

Same with Halo 2 I believe but back then GFWL wanted you to have a proper paid Xbox live Gold subscription which is bull for the feature to only support 2 games I would love to see the feature get revived with support for Resident evil 5 or Street fighter 4

MAG is an amazing game, with little to no lag, but it is hard to tell if the 360 is powerful enough to pull something like that off.

Just to let you know, you can only hear your squad of 8, and your Officer In Command (OIC) when he is giving orders.

.....That's it, I'm editing that thing. Just so you know, you're the third person who has told me that. But then again, you got slightly more specific than the other two. It went from "You can only hear your squad" to "You can only hear about 10 others" to "You can only hear your squad of 8". Now this wonderful trilogy of information can come to an end!
