Meh...

Watched a few episodes and I gotta admit the Animation quality is great; as for the show it's self... Meh. It's not Bad but not really my cup of tea so I move on and find other things that interest me.

As for the pony haters... LOL. I don't understand how people can get all up in rage about a little TV show . Makes me wonder what will happen if they made a All Furry Cartoon that became a HIT!

Anyway, I kinda see the show and many other things that come along that are INSANELY POPULAR with that line from Wall Street(2010) When the Shia LaBeouf Character is talking about his Clean energy plans and Micheal Douglass responds (Not Quote) How's its the "next bubble".

In my Mind - That's What Pokemon, Ripped Jeans, LA Gears, Backstreet Boys and now My Little Pony is. It's the next bubble that will float up and up and get everyone to love and adore it until it pops NOT because it sucks but only because it ran it's course and the populous finds something else to throw it's attention at.

(Twilight is sorta on the same course)

An all furry cartoon? I think the internet's denzins' heads would explode. Course I'd be doing the same thing with the uproar about MLP, laughing my ass off at the pointless rage and anger.

You do have a point about MLP probably being a bubble though. I'm sure eventually the hype will die down and the fandom will be reduced down to the point where the shows more of a cult classic rather than a internet phenomena that it is right now.

Well, I'm still sticking with Pinkie Pie (she so crazy!), although I have to admit Fluttershy is making one hell of a come back. She definitely did win out in the 'Evil Enchantress' moment to be sure.

As for why it's most popular with males above the target audience's age, I couldn't tell you.

I think it invokes a kind of nostalgia blast from people who remember the good ol' days in terms of cartoons, back when they were still good. No wonder, because Lauren Faust worked on the Powerpuff Girls. You might have a point with the girl thing though. Sometimes you just need something pink and fluffy. I've been craving for Nintendo games for a while too. Enough of all those grim shooters and RPG's, I want Super Mario Sunshine, Kirby's Epic Yarn, you name it!

As for my favourite character, definitely Pinkie Pie. No-one plays a one-pony band so badass.

Cartoons have never been good since Tom and Jerry was toned down. The only thing remotely watchable nowadays is the Penguins of Madagascar, reruns of Warner Bros stuff and maybe...na, thats it.

Penguins of Madagascar?!?! Good gods that shit is horrible....though...that might be because of the Dutch dub. I freakin' hate dubs. They totally ruined Eek the Cat.

But you're forgetting about the 90's period, when Cartoon Network reigned supreme. Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Animaniacs, Dexter's Lab...good times. There are some hidden gems nowadays though, like Avatar The Last Airbender (a show that treats children like actual people!), Invader Zim and erm....ummm...that's it I guess. Well and MLP of course.

Whenever someone gets angry at ponies and pony-lovers, it makes me sad.

Because I just know they'd be less angry if they actually made an attempt to understand why we like it, rather than dismissing it as 'another meme' or an 'internet fad'. I can accept that it won't be a lot of people's cup of tea, and that's great, diversity's a wonderful thing, but such hatred for people who like something that you don't is not called for.

I think you're being defensive -- you cannot honestly suggest that anyone sane truly hates you or anyone else for liking MLP. Referring to yourself as a "Pony lover" instead of saying "Hey, I like that show" is a bit gag-inducing, I admit, but you haven't done anything worth hating.

You're mistaking hatred directed at you for aggravation directed towards a fad that encroaches far beyond "slightly in your face", which it is. It is a fad, as many good things are, and it will eventually lose favor when the next new thing comes out.

Does that make the show bad? No. Does that make you bad for liking it? No. It clearly being a meme or fad should not affect you one bit. I certainly hope that you have enough of a backbone to handle it when people get annoyed by countless MLP threads popping up no matter where they go. Try seeing it from that standpoint.

The problem here is that we're not necessarily dealing with sane people. Not clinically insane, no, but still not level-headed (I guess you know what anonymosity does to people). And I used the term pony-lovers because I find 'brony' a bit too gender-exclusive


The internet-wide fascination with it will, of course, be a passing trend, but I sincerely believe that the fans of the show will watch it until they run out of episodes (and, in all likelihood, some after that too). It won't be a meme forever, but people will still like it.

Maybe they are just annoyed at clone threads - hell, they annoy the shit out of me too - but the point is that I've seen comments and such directly attacking people who like the show. They're the people I'm addressing, not just people who are annoyed at the excessive discussion of it. I can respect that people don't want to see a new thread about it every two minutes, but the people that take this frustration out on the fans are still unjustified.
