When it suddenly takes a turn for the worst, you both fall, this leaves you on a small ledge, with your friend dangling injured on a rope that connects the two of you, over a ravine.

The weight of your friend is pulling you down, and in a few seconds you might be pulled off and both go tumbling into the abyss.

Would you cut the rope, almost definetly killing your friend, or leave the rope intact and try and pull your friend up, which would almost definetly result in both of you dying.

Try saving my friend. If that doesn't work, well... I really wouldn't want to, but I would probably cut the rope.

I would try save my friend to be honest, but to be even more honest I am not the type of person to go mountain climbing.

Way to may factors to consider. If i decided that it was both of us or just him, i'd cut the rope.

2-2=0
2-1=1

1 is more than 0.

Math. Its irrefutable.

Any climber i have ever talked to, myself included (i climb every week) whether they were on either end of the rope has said they would cut it. Its the one that makes the most sense.
I would suggest watching touching the void. He cut the rope and it was agreed by the climbing community as the right thing to do, even by the guy he cut off (he survived, luckily)

Cut the rope.

We are alone, so I could just say it was an accident, and no one would ever be the wiser.
You would be surprised (or maybe not XD) at the amount of times this has happened. You are 99% likely not to get arrested for it.

Cut the rope. It doesn't matter which of my friends it is, I'd cut the bloody rope.
But really, I'd never be moutian climbing, thus avoiding the senerio all together.
Though I have a few friends that , as long as they fell first, their guts would make great cushioning.

I'd try to save him, but if it was clear that there was no way to do so without killing us both, I'd cut him loose.

I couldn't live with myself if I had done nothing to save my friend. I would try to save him or her any way I could. There has to be SOMETHING I could do.

Try to save my friend, though i would more than likely be the one being saved in this kind of situation.

I would probably try to pull him for a few seconds, then cut the rope. I'm not sacrificing myself! Besides, I would never go mountain climbing.
