I accept your apology for a start.
But my stance on subject remains that it is needlessly dangerous both to yourself and those around you for anyone to own and/or use a firearm.
It is also needlessly dangerous for anyone and yourself if you own a car!
More people die by car accidents then by gun accidents, so this is just a bogus statement that has nothing to do with the reason to actually own either a car or a gun...
For the owner, guns can serve a purpose just as much as cars do. It might not be as "useful" as a car, but at least it´s less damaging to the economy and doesn´t pollute the air...much XD
So please, don´t offend gun owners with your "opinion", and phrase it differently. It is your opinion, fine, but don´t rub it into anyones face like a vegetarian going "EATING MEAT IS EVIL!"...

Guns in the UK are a strict liability. Even if I took it straight to a police station and handed it in, I would be arrested and likely charged for carrying a firearm. So no, I wouldn't touch the damn thing.
WoW.....doing a good thing and get punished....nice

Hand it in to police...who knows why its there..probally not a good thing tho

I'd just keep walking. If I call the police, they take down my information.......and then they'll be able to find me. I gotta stay off the grid man.

It could have Balistic Markings on it leading to a Murder, if I pick it up, my traces are left on it, then they'll think I commited the Murder. No-Fuckin'-Thank you. Leave it in the gutter.

Call the police/take it to the nearest police station. As was said in Die Hard With a Vengeance "...But some kid could..."

Real Life: I wouldn't EVEN touch it, just call the cops with the location anonymously and walk away.

Videogame Life: Sell it, I specialized melee combat.

I have enough guns, and why would I risk taking home what could have been a murder weapon?
This. Only I don't have enough. Not YET.

I really hate guns, there is just no good reason for someone to have one.
Please stick to the subject at hand, there is no need for this to turn into a debate.
I did...:/ opinions different from yours aren't automatically irrelevant. Should go without saying but whatever.
It just seems like you could have said "There is no good reason for ME to have one" instead of saying that people that own guns have no reason to. The way you worded it could easily be taken as an insult to any gun owner.

I wasn't trying to demean your opinion, so I apologize for any offence taken.
I accept your apology for a start.

See, now you're debating (more like preaching). The thread subject is about what we would do in the situation, not the ethics of firearms. You are trolling and you don't even know it.

Umm... why isn't "ignore it and walk away" an option? Because that is what I would do, being the paranoid person I am...

why would so many people hand it in to the police?! they must've never shot a gun before.
i'd keep it, file down the inside of the barrel in case it had been used in a crime of some sort ( so ballistics can't match a bullet fired from it) and then i'd probablly do some shooting!!!! YEEEEEEHHAAAAAAWW!

I already have one. Might as well give it to the police, especially if it can put some serial killer in prison.
My gun's probably nicer than that one anyways lol.

Roughly this. There was actually a news story a while back about a guy who found a shotgun in the woods. He called the police then and there, told them he was going to take it back to his house and take it to the station in the morning to hand it in, to which he was told it was alright.

When he got to the station, he handed over the gun and was promptly arrested. He was then charged and prosecuted for having possession of a firearm.

So i'd leave it the fuck alone, call the police on the spot and wait there until someone came for it. I'd rather a kid didn't get his hands on a gun.

Well since I live in a hunting community a lost gun wouldn't seem all that odd so that takes out that factor

On the one hand, I'm not exactly Firearm legal yet, But on the other hand, FREE SHIT.
Being the greedy person that I am I'd probably take it and stuff it in a safe until I could get licensed.
