I prefer the non gay sport.

Also known as American Football
I'm not sure that any sport that has "tight end" as one of the essential players qualifies as "not gay".
Agreed. This tiny flame war between Football, and "Football" (i would call it "Skirmish") is hilarious.

Oh please, you can't even tackle someone in rugby without wrapping both your arms around them and whispering sweet nothings in their ear.
I mean, isn't that half the fun of playing? Right guys? ... Err, guys? *crickets chirp*

Umm, moving on, I've found myself enjoying watching football (of the non American persuasion) more and more in the course of the last few years, mainly because the enjoyment of playing it has finally transferred into a realisation of just how athletic the players are, as it is easy to forget just how huge the pitch is.

Still, and I do somewhat say this due to the requirement of my Canadian citizenship, I still prefer watching Hockey to both. *shrug*

Soccer for me, please.
Even thought I just started watching it, I am really into it. And to that one that said that soccer doesn't have strategy, actually it does. The coaches have to deal with th style of the teams, formations, ...

Also,
FCP(futebol clube do porto) RULES.

American "football" (pfft, my ASS!) is just the sissy-version of rugby.
I'm not a hater, I actually watch the Superbowl every year, but.. It's just rugby with about 100 lbs protection extra / player.
Oh please, you can't even tackle someone in rugby without wrapping both your arms around them and whispering sweet nothings in their ear. American football players just crash into each other as hard as possible. They have to wear all that padding in order to not die.

I don't really watch either though. Definitely prefer regular football. Chelseeeeeeaaaaaaaa!
I'm sorry I'll go whisper sweet nothings in the ears of those ex rugby playing paraplegics. On the other hand you have football: Dive. Oh what a wonderful dive. What wonderful lack of sportsmanship. Dive. Divedivedive. Dive. Argument. Dive. Sex scandal. Dive. DiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDiveDive.

I prefer Male balls and the thing in-between them.
Then have I got a treat for you!

OT: Don't really care for sports in general, but I'm a fan of Soccer more than Football (yeah I used the American terminology, sue me). Probably because my families more interested in it. But Soccer isn't also start-stop-start-stop like American Football is.

That title is really misleading. I thought this thread was about pantsinhabitant related bussinesses. But OT: the Ball-Ball, soccer. even though that really is football.

I play neither and I don't find watching either sport entertaining. I don't get how people can get so worked up about sports (to the point of getting violent) when they themselves aren't playing.

And it ain't FOOTball in ANY way!

Also: West Ham / Athletic Bilbao FTW!
That's because in the states it's called Football while your football is called soccer. God knows why that is other then perhaps some bad newspaper hype and old words from the old English (where most of the differences come from actually, the term soccer was spread by a Brit actually).

Me too, I hate watching sports, it's so boring and only makes me wish I was actually playing the sport.

I think that what us Brits call "football" is officially "association football", just like rugby is "rugby football", and the American variation is "American football". They are all football in their own right.

I think that the ball in soccer is better as an object, but I don't prefer it as a game. So there

I like to throw balls like baseballs, but I'm better at rugby than I am anything else, so...

I don't know why it's called football, but American Football is definitely more my speed. I find soccer incredibly boring.

It's not natural for your testicles to be perfectly spherical, so I prefer my slightly oblong balls.

As for soccer, I only have one thing to say: Any game in which the ability to convincingly fake an injury is more important than the ability to play the game is not worthy of my respect. I have no interest in watching a bunch of pussies flail around trying to see who can take a dive in the most dramatic way possible.

Sports have never been my thing, but if I had to choose, I'd say football was more interesting/fun. I guess I don't really grasp american football, I've had many people explain it to me but it just doesn't make sense for some reason, so I'm always completely lost if I'm trying to watch a game. Football, on the other hand, intuitively makes sense, and it's pretty easy to pick up just watching it for a minute or so. Also, what's with the getup in american? They're all dressed like they're getting shot out of cannons or something. I've heard people call that game `the manly sport,' but with all that padding and everything piled on the players, I highly doubt that. Are they that scared of getting tackled? Seven-year-old kids on a playground are rougher than american football players, and they wear shorts and a t shirt. When seven-year-old kids are more manly than you, you need to rethink your approach, guys. Not that football is much more manly, but its fans don't profess it to be, and what the players wear makes sense.

Also, I have to link this:
