I'd flip a coin; all or nothing. A human can often learn from pain in some way, but it seems just as likely people will say "Ow. That hurt. LOL." and move on without a second thought. "What caused the pain?" "What is it to feel hurt?" "Was it really so bad?" Sometimes overshadowed by "OW FUCK MAKE IT STOP."
So, 50-50 chance I take as much as I can until I pass out (hopefully, enough to relieve the sufferer, can we keep the pain even if unconcious?) or leave the unlucky bastard to writhe and maybe have some revelation by the end of it.

I would totally take 100% of the pain, because that's totally badass, and I want to be a total badass,

I'd take 50%. I'm good with pain but I'd rather not suffer more than necessary, and half seems fair.

I'd probably first ascertain where the pain is. I don't really feel like taking even 5% of the searing, unbearable pain in his crotch.

50% or so. I can take a fair bit of pain apparently, and I would be very willing to help out someone in need.

50/50 split. I can deal with half of the pain for half an hour for the sake of a random stranger. If it's someone I know, I might take more, and there's a very select handful of people for whom I'd take it all.

To be completely honest, it depends on the person.

The better I know and like the person the more I would take. If it was a family member, pet, or my partner probably 100%; a complete stranger, maybe 33%-50%.

At least 60. I'd rather be in pain them someone else. I always feel like I deserve it more then they do for some reason.

All of it. I need to test my pain threshhold anyway.
Also, Altruism-awaaaaaay!

OT: I'd take as much as I could handle (if it is like water flowing in ... you know, gradual increase in pain), or all of it (if it is a simple instantaneous transfer). Also, if I have the power to take someone's pain away, then it would make sense that I should practice taking pain so that I can take away as much pain as possible if needed.

I love how selfish people are lately. From the typical "Sacrifice a loved one to save ten people," they kill the ten people. 100? Kill them all to saved the loved one. Ten people in saw-like death or their pet puppy dying of a painless death? Majority rules the ten people condemned to death. These are all real threads that have been on the Escapist over the months, and now this one majority of the population says "I won't take any of the pain" when there's no side effects and you help a person.

Honestly, I hope everyone who put "0%" are the ones that get injured and have everyone pass them by so they understand how it is to have people overlook you when in need of help, even if they won't lose anything in doing so. People always claiming that they're losing in faith in humanity from random articles of mean people in the news room, yet they see nothing wrong here.

Thread results like this make ME lose faith in humanity, how none of you have empathy or even care. Anyone who put 50-100%, I offer you a friend request, honestly. Send me one, because I know you're worthwhile poster for me to hang out with, and thank you.

Depends on the circumstances, though I would think I would take at least the majority of the pain. If they were someone close to me though (family member or friend), it would be 100%

Plus it helps that I have quite a high pain threshold anyway.

<Has a partially torn ligament in his left knee as of yesterday and is in pain.

Any takers?

I'd take 100% of your pain...

This, though I prefer to call it extortion. The X makes it sound cool.

Hmm....It would depend on a lot of stuff..

Assuming the guy doesn't look like a total druggie...I'd take between 10-25%.

If he does look like a druggie...I dunno. I'd probably not take any. I have this...aura that seems to attract VERY pushy panhandlers. (seriously, I grabbed a random amount of change from my pocket, ended up giving him 3 bucks as a result and he STILL kept pressuring me! And when I made to leave for class he amped up his begging EVEN MORE. I've had stuff like this happen to me 3 times in the last year. >_<)
