A Hermit's Cave
I'm a man! I can deal with some vertically projected water!

Seriously, though, if it's a drizzle, I don't bother with anything. Heavy rain, umbrella. Sunshine, umbrella (heliophobic...).

Eh, I don't really care all that much. I like the rain, even if it's extremely cold rain, I generally go out with whatever I have on. I don't actually own any type of anti-rain gear...

...I hate that damn thing with a passion matched only by my hate for the beret...

That said, I use an Army issued Gore-tex jacket:
Why? The black fleece is *****'n!

Warm, bulky, and it has boob pockets!

Just a normal hoodie, I barely seen anyone around who actually uses an umbrella.

Other.
If it's raining outside I just flip up the hood on my... thick shirt(direct translation :p). The reason I do it to begin with is to avoid my long, sexy, beautiful hair getting wet. It gets all curly and stuff when it dries by itself! >.<

Usually have a leather jacket on me aswell.

Trench coat and umbrella. I have a few smaller jackets that are fine if it's just a drizzle, but the trench coat is the best for deluges.

my main issues with it are...
A) Lack of a hood... which I know is a redundant feature in uniform... at least in garrison... but that makes it damn near useless (at least to me) in civilian life. It's not capable of keeping your head warm, or of keeping rain off your head.
B) Doesn't shed water very well. If I wear that thing in real rain (I live in the Pacific Northwest... we get a bit more than most) for five minutes, both it and I are soaked through.
C) Doesn't do much against a cold wind.

...also, just a superficial gripe, but that collar looks ridiculous. It's impossible for it to be in any position other than "turtleneck" or "popped". I've tried for days to make the damn thing stay down, just doesn't happen.

I typically just wear my hoodie sweatshirt. As a Pacific Northwest resident (Washington state) I can say that only tourists use umbrellas.

I am a cyclist and have worked outdoors in the past. My choice in rain gear is situation dependent. If I am riding my bike a short distance my shell jacket and slush pants will suffice. If I am walking on a non windy day I will use an umbrella. If I am hiking / canoeing I will wear my heavy gear. You get the point. The level of protection you choose is dependent on your anticipated exposure.

A shotgun... To kill the zombies that live outside.
Or a claymore.
No, not the explosive dipshit. The goddamn sword!
Well you can stay inside but I'm gonna go waste my money at the movies.

The conversation in my mind.

Leather jacket or coat, plus umbrella. Full-leather waterproof boots. Jeans.

I have a huge green vinyl raincoat. I wore it when I worked on trails last year and it was a really great coat, so I kept it. It's warm and it dries quickly, plus it can handle an enormous rainstorm quite nicely. :D

I usually just double up on hoodies, it works and as long as it isn't too cold, I'm fine with getting wet anyway.
