The computer I'm typing on was a store-bought HP... yeh, I wasted money on it. It's got a P4 2.8GHz, 7600GT (upgraded from FX5200), 1.5GB DDR400 RAM (upgraded from 512MB), 120GB IDE hard drive and some ASUS Oxford motherboard. It's alright for older games (since I'm restricted to 1600x1200 with my old, 15" CRT), but I tried running World in Conflict... it was alright, but tended to lag.

Now I know a little about computers, I got a custom-build from a smaller shop... I'd of built it myself, but my dad's not too keen on letting me mess around with $AU1700. Anyways, this one's got a E8400, ASUS P5Q-SE/R, 4GB DDR2 800 RAM, Asus 9800GTX+ 512MB VRAM, 500GB SATA hard drive, along with a case and 500W power supply, a 21.5" monitor, a Microsoft keyboard/mouse (what, I like them) and headset with mic, so I can finally talk during TF2.

I build my own, this is just copy and pasted from my xfire profile:

Manufacturer:
NVIDIA
Processor:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9300 @ 2.50GHz (4 CPUs)
Memory:
4GB RAM
Hard Drive:
500 GB
Video Card:
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2
Monitor:
SyncMaster 753DF(T)/ 783DF(T), MagicSyncMaster AQ17DF
Sound Card:
Realtek HD Audio output
Speakers/Headphones:
Logitech Speakers
Keyboard:
Logitech EasyCall Desktop Wireless keyboard
Mouse:
Centrios X7 Optical Gaming Mouse
Power supply:
650W
Motherboard:
EVGA 132-CK-NF78-A1 SLI 780i DDR2
Computer Case:
Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case

I still have a CRT monitor...oh well it still works fine but a flat screen would be nice and would take up less space.

Macbook pro. Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GHz, 1.5GB of ram, and a 128MB Radeon X1600. It's functional. I'm not really interested in most of the games coming out these days, anyway.

I didn't build this computer, my brother did. I'll post what I know (and even that's sketchy)

Mainboard: ECS KT600-A
CPU: AMD Athlon XP - 1.91 ghz
HDD: Samsung - 400GB
RAM: 2GB - don't know manufacturer
Graphics card: ATI RAEDON 9600
Sound card: Creative AudioPCI
Power: EZ Cool Super Silent 400w
Network card: Linksys NC100 Fast Ethernat Adapter

There we go. A bit all over the place. The quirkiness of it all is further emphasised by the fact that I have to press reset 3 times to get the computer to turn on, and it makes a weird ticking noise if run for too long. The DVD Drive isn't too fond of opening, and those last three pieces only got put in after a storm (buy surge protectors.)

My PC exists to visit the internets and type homework assignments. The best game it can handle is battlefield 2142, and not very well at that.

Built myself.
-abit IP35-e
-intel Q6600(overclocked to 3ghz)
-4gb corsair ram(specific model illudes me at this point)
-bfg Geforce 8800 gtx 756mb

I think those are the important specs. Would recommend those parts as they are quite reasonably priced now, wouldn't get the same motherboard again though.

It's a build up by Mesh. Circa March 2004.

They provided the case and power supply, I sent a large box of bits, it came back three weeks later with a screen and keyboard.

AMD xp3200+
Ati X1600pro 512mb.
Nvidia something sound card.
DVD drive.
Wireless/wired network cards.
3 1/2 floppy drive. (no really)
1024mb RAM.
320gb hdd.
Lots of USB ports.

Can't remember what the other parts are, it's been so reliable I've only had to open it up four or five time, mostly for cleaning purposes.

CPU: Intel Core2 Duo E6300 @ 1.86 GHz
RAM: 2GB DDR-2 Corsair XMS2
HD: 500GB SATA drive
Video: NVidia GeForce 8800 GTS (320MB version)
Monitors: 17" Dell LCD, 19" CRT monstrosity

This was $800 (minus the monitors) two years ago, so it's woefully out-of-date, but it still plays Crysis, so I'm ok with it.
