I collected Dogmeat first, and then I ran into Butch in Rivet City, and he reminded me so much of home I took him with me as well. Then i glitched my way into getting all the followers, but instead of taking them all with me I told them all to wait in my Megaton house, so I have my own family. And with plenty of vault suits to go around, it's like home again :]

Except for Jericho ... to this day I do not know where he is. I'm worried the frustration of not being able to leave Megaton finally got to him, and that he took his own life :(

i played before any of the DLC came out, then i sold it... o_O I know. but i kept fawkes with me... the guy has such great lines, and he's nearly indestructible. i don't know how he would fare against some of the higher-level monsters though, so i guess if he ever got to be a hindrance i'd tell him to take a hike.

I usually just pick em up as they come along. Fawkes is currently following me around since im doing broken steel for the first time and I used her to turn on the purifier so I felt bad if I had ditched her. However I usually just drop whoever I have and pick up whoever is offering.

I had Fawkes in Dogmeat before my file got corrupted and I had to start over. I got a little over-protective of them though after I left Fawkes in Tacoma Industrial before you fight the Behemoth so that he wouldn't get killed. Unfortunately, I came back and a Super Mutant with a missile launcher killed him. I re-loaded the save and was he was fine. But I tended to leave him and Dogmeat in my house after that.

I like to have Dogmeat, but I always send him to Vault 101 - I feel terrible when he dies.

...Fuck you, I'm a chick and I know it.

So I usually go solo.
Which makes me wonder, why does my Dogmeat never die? Seriously, he can go head on with Deathclaws and live. And kick some ass to boot. It takes several Bottlecap Mines and Nuka Grenades to make a noticeable dent in his health.

Charon. He's great company, plus after Broken Steel he was really helpful, activating Project Purity and all.
Dogmeat doesnt die because of a developer screw up. They made it so the creature followers (RL3, Fawkes and Dogmeat) would level with you due to Broken Steel. But, they made a mistake with the health increase, so these three followers gain their original health per level. For example, Dogmeat has 500 health initially. But with broken steel, he gains 500 health every level you go up. He ends up with around 15,000 at level 30.

Anyway, I usually only use Dogmeat on my main character. The only other followers I can currently get are Cross, Charon and Fawkes and they're all too good. I do really like Butch and Jericho as followers. They're amusing to travel with.

I don't like having followers in games. The AI is always horrible, especially when it comes to pathfinding. And in Fallout 3 I did give Dogmeat a chance, but he kept charging whoever I was trying to sneak up on, even though I was sneaking because I knew a direct assault would be signing my own death certificate.

Only rarely have I found any kind of NPC followers tolerable, and that would be in games meant for it, like Star Wars: Republic Commando, I think it's called.

I find them all to be more of a liability than a hand, so none.

I don't need them anyway, I have Vengeance.

Fawkes and Dog Meat, because alone they're already god-like but together! Oh Lord!

Usually Fawkes. I would take Dogmeat, but I'd be inconsolable if he died (I have it on PS3, so dont have the expansion perk that lets me get him back).

When needing some company (Xbox 360 version), I bring Fawkes. Invincible, amusing and useful. No other follower is actually friendly, either.

On the PC, I use my custom follower, Charles the talking Nukalurk.

I use to use Fawkes for everything. I would have him kill everyone and everything while I just grabbed all the loot.

After Operation Anchorage though I know use stealth for everything. Between the Stealth suit and Jingwei's Shock Sword I can practially kill everyone in one shot.

Fawkes. Who doesn't want an invincible killing machine with a gatling laser gun following him around?

I had Charon and Clover. Untill I got captured by the Enclave and lost Clover and can't get her back till the end of Broken Steel I think till you get some perk to bring back Dogmeat or something.

Just kill Dogmeat while in the middle of nowhere with no-one around and go get another follower.
