Ledger was good but lets face it, if he didn't die he would never have got an oscar. There was barely any batman in that movie.

I've only ever seen The Joker in The Dark Knight so Ledger gets my vote. Not as a means of him being better than anyone else, but because I can't really judge the others.

Also, if what anyone else has said is true, Ledger was at least on par with Nicholson so he gets my vote without qualms.

How can more people not love Cesar Romero? He was part of what made that show so wonderfully campy! He was a true stage villain of the first order. Brilliant. Although I admit if you're going for gritty and actually *scary*, then Heath Ledger probably takes it.

Well... Mark Hamill, I suppose. Mostly because I prefer the Joker as an animated character, and I love the voice Hamill gave him.
