Garrus is the Niles to my Frasier, the Watson to my Sherlock, my wingman, my second-in-command, always has been, and always will be.

Which made it heartwrenchingly painful to watch him die on my first playthrough, seeing him carried away by a seeker swarm after FUCKING JACK didn't do her FUCKING JOB. So, naturally, I restarted the mission and now I make sure she dies every time I play the game.

Samara, but saying she was my "favourite" doesnt say much. The characters in ME2 are so poorly developed, isolated and essentially little more than an "objective" that I cant say I felt the same connection as I did the ME1 squad. Remember them, the squad that acknowledged eachtothers existence on more than just a few scant occasions, and - shock, horror - actually talked to eachother.

Part of one of the reasons why I liked Samara a lot was because she was one of the main contributors to the game where it wasnt just about moving from cover to cover mowing down hordes of mooks, which is pretty much the rest of the entire game.
What on earth do you mean by the characters are little more than 'an objective'? That doesn't make any sense.

If you think the characters in ME2 are not developed, then kindly list some characters you think are. Pretty much all of the characters have interesting back stories and some very thought-provoking personal dilemmas. Perhaps you simply didn't talk to them, or go to the trouble of doing their loyalty missions - y'know...half the damn game.

ME2 beats the crap out of ME1 in terms of character. Two of the most interesting ones return in the second game anyway (Tali and Garrus), and even if you really loved Wrex, Liara and Ashley, then there's still enough intrigue in the second game to adequately cover that deficit. Kaidan? If you think Kaidan is a well developed character, then don't even worry about replying.

Legion because he's the most amazing thing since sliced bread.

It's too bad they had to make his name a bible reference...

Lessee... Favorite team for my Vanguard Shepard was Garrus/Tali. Gave us a bit of everything strength, and a solid party no matter the level. that and the two of them together in a party is hilarious.
Garrus: So about those old times, back with Shepard...
Tali: I have a shotgun.
Garrus: but didn't you think it was fun stand in the elevator and talk about...
Tali: I have a shotgun.
Garrus: How about you talk about your Pilgrimage?
Tali: I. Have. A. Shotgun.

I couldn't vote for Mordin so I went with Tali. Still a tough call.

I think Mordin wrestling with the moral dilema of his involvment with the xenophage was what MADE him a great character. Few great characters are without thier imperfections. Perfection is boring and hard to relate to.

OK, who was the joker who voted for Jacob?

Poor Jacob, surrounded by awesome people. What chance did you have.

OT: Garrus. I honestly didn't know he was in Mass Effect 2, and I cheered when he removed his mask and revealed himself.

The characters in ME2 are pathetic, little more than expendable trash. They dont even occupy a unique role in the plot.

Listen, there is no point in arguing this, its simply fact.

The characters in ME2 consist of:

2-5 conversations - can vary wildly depending on romance or not. Really fucking shit characters like Tali and Garrus can probably only be talked to twice if you cant or wont romance them. Shit.

A recruitment mission. Mostly about shooting.

A loyalty mission. Mostly about shooting, with Thane and Samara being the two only exceptions.

Bar that they occupy a totally interchangeable role in the plot. They really just were attempts at "badass" filler. Only Mordin and Miranda occupy roles that could be considered plot related, and these are two of the worst parts of the story (Shepards fucking shitty "resurrection" which is not even detailed in the slightest, and Mordin and his magical seeker found from nowhere.)

ME2 is just mainly about cover shooting. Its why the plot, characters and gameworld (well, besides not using cookie cutter prefab locations anymore - just cookie cutter shooting galleries) are all completely inferior to ME1.

Edit: Just to be clear, you and many others seem to be under the ridiculous assumption that just because you might be able to talk to them a few times, they "develop". They dont. The only difference at the end game is whether they are dead or alive. Not that their personalities have dramatically changed via the players influence. ME2 is about running errands to keep an expendable squad alive for a vastly overhyped mission. Its not some deep story about the characters. If it were, they would fit together in some form of a cohesive whole, not just a series of disjointed missions that dont interact with one another.

For me its a tie between Tali, Garrus and Legion(Why isnt he on the list?) Jack is the most useless I've only played her loyalty mission twice. in my ME3 game she will NOT be alive.

I would have voted for Mordin, as he's easily the most badass and interesting character in the series (IMO).

But as he's apparently not a choice in this poll... I'll have to go with Tali. She'd be my second choice anyway since I also find her to be a particularly interesting character.

Honestly though, the only one of them (both games combined) that I outright just didn't like at all was Jacob. He's about as interesting as drying paint, and not nearly as useful.

Neither Mordin or Legion in poll, OP you are either forgetful or scoundrel.

My vote would go on Mordin, he's just great fun, also one of the few characters without Daddy issues.

Jack, Miranda, Jacob, Tali, and Grunt all have Daddy issues as a part of their story...it gets old despite liking some of said characters.

Mordin on the other hand has much more to hsi backstory being one of those responsible for the Genophage and now a doctor give him an unusual character arc and this of course ties in with the Krogan which are imo the most interesting species in the ME galaxy besides Geth.

Legion and Garrus would tie for second place, Garrus is the bro character and you've gotta love his whole Archangel (Batman) episode on Omega. Legion however just bools on board near the end of the game acting like a complete enigma and whatever he does say only leaves the player wanting to know more.

Also screw the haters, Mass Effect 2 was a good game, not PERFECT but good.

How in blue fuck did you fail to put Mordin on the list? He's easily the best. Not from a combat perspective, but he's someone I always had in my party.
